Thor: Love and Thunder wasn't the most well-received movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it was largely criticized for focusing too much on comedy. And one of the running gags in the 2022 release was Jane trying to find a mic-drop-like superhero catchphrase, but they all came off way too cringy.

However, despite Jane's failure to find her perfect one-liner, the MCU is full of brilliant mic-drops from both superheroes and villains, and Redditors have debated which is the best of them all. Whether it's Hulk's dismissal of gods, Tony undermining Ant-Man, or Thanos snapping away billions of people, nobody could follow up these mic-drops.

War Machine's War Story

Tony and Rhodey attempt to life Thor's hammer with the help of Iron Man arm pieces in Avengers: Age of Ultron

When it comes to the funniest moments of Age of Ultron, everyone always refers to the heroes attempting to lift Thor's hammer. But just a few minutes earlier in the same scene, Rhodey has one of the most laugh-out-loud sequences. The character tells a story to Thor and Tony about how he drops a tank in front of a general and exclaims, "Boom! You looking for this?" with a huge grin on his face.

However, it isn't quite the mic-drop moment that Rhodey thinks it is, as it totally pales in comparison to any number of Tony or Thor's battle stories. But Rdhight notes that he does get the mic-drop moment he was looking for, as he retells the story to a group of non-Avengers, and it gets a riotous laugh. It's one of the best comedic pay-offs in the MCU.

Hulk's Altercation With The Puny God

The Hulk thrashes Loki around in The Avengers

Jimothy_Egg thinks that the aftermath of Loki's altercation with Hulk is the ultimate mic-drop moment in the MCU. In 2012's The Avengers, Loki tells Hulk, "I am a god, you dull creature!", to which Hulk doesn't have the happiest response, as he leaves a Loki-shaped hole in the floor after smashing him around like a hammer.

Hulk then walks away in his typical hunched-over posture, but with so much swagger at the same time, as he mutters under his breath, "Puny god." Hulk has so many great little interactions in the MCU, but this is by far the best, and it makes audiences crave a World War Hulk movie.

Thanos' Snap

Thanos snaps his fingers in Avengers Infinity War

SP1570 refers to the very end of Avengers: Infinity War, a superhero movie that sees the villain actually accomplish his goal, which they think features the franchise's best mic-drop. Thanos finally puts on the Infinity Gauntlet, but Thor stabs him in the chest with Stormbreaker. However, with what definitely isn't his last breath, Thanos tells Thor, "You should have gone for the head" before erasing half of all life from the entire universe with a single snap.

It's also the setup for a one-liner that audiences wouldn't hear until one year later. In Avengers: Endgame when they find Thanos in his cabin, Thor chops off the purple alien's head without hesitation. After being asked what he just did, Thor responds, "I went for the head," which serves as another epic mic-drop in itself.

Captain Marvel Blasting Away Yon-Rogg

Yon-Rogg in Captain Marvel.

Yon-Rogg is one of the more forgettable MCU villains, as even the most die-hard fans would struggle to remember his name, but that's partly because he isn't all that much of a threat to Captain Marvel. Hi_Im_Dadbot believes that his exit in Captain Marvel is one of the best mic-drops of the MCU, as Carol treats him like the low-level threat that he is.

The Redditor notes, "End of Captain Marvel where Jude Law is trying to get her to fight him without her powers and she just shrugs and says 'I have nothing to prove to you,' and blasts him into a mountain." The moment showcases just how powerful of a character Carol is, and it's the first of several mic-drops in a row in the final act of the 2019 movie. Simply her badass appearance was enough to terrify Ronan.

Tony Stark Undermining Ant-Man

Ant-Man talking with Black Widow at the Airport

Captain America: Civil War had a lot of tasks, and it successfully accomplished every one of them, whether it was introducing Spider-Man and Black Panther or setting up the pieces for the Infinity Saga finale. But that meant that there wasn't much time to introduce newer characters to the older characters, and Iron Man and Ant-Man hilariously share a 10-second-long dialogue.

Scott Lang tries throwing in his two cents into the conversation, to which Tony responds, “Who are you?” which Midloguy804 thinks is the best mic-drop in the MCU. It works on levels that casual fans might not even know too, as Tony's father and Hank Pym had something of a rivalry in the comic books. So Tony might have known exactly who Scott was and who gave him the suit, but it was just a perfect way of undermining him.

Tony's Sacrifice

Tony Stark Obtains The Infinity Gauntlet From Thanos

When debating the best mic-drop in the MCU, Jimothy_Egg notes, "Well... Tony's sacrifice probably qualifies." Just as Thanos' comment before he snaps away half of life in the universe was a great mic-drop, Tony's was just as exciting.

The Infinity Saga is bookended with two of the greatest mic-drops in cinema history, as Tony's last words in Endgame double as both a great one-liner and a callback to the original Iron Man movie. At the end of Iron Man, Tony exclaims, "I am Iron Man," which subverted the trope of heroes' alter egos being exposed as shameful into a valiant move. And it also spoke to the character's egotistical nature too. It was a perfect mic-drop to end the movie with, and Endgame follows suit.

Doctor Strange's Motivational Words To Peter Parker

While the franchise has so many great mic-drop moments, the MCU also has tons of cringy one-liners, and one of the biggest offenders is when Doctor Strange tells Peter, Ned, and MJ to "Scooby-Doo this crap" in Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, this user argues that it's one of the best one-liners in the whole franchise.

The line doesn't work on so many levels, as it's such a random pop-culture reference from a character who has absolutely no interest in anything pop-culture-related. It's a mistake that's happened all too often with Steven Strange, as he has other absurd one-liners about Rihanna and Ben and Jerry's ice cream too.

Star-Lord's Name-Drop

Shirtless Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Jake11996 thinks that Star-Lord name-dropping the ragtag group of space bandits is the best mic-drop in the MCU. When asked by Ronan how the group is seemingly immortal, Star-Lord responds with, “You said it yourself b****… we’re the guardians of the galaxy.”

Like Doctor Strange talking about Scooby-Doo, this line walks a fine line between being a great mic-drop and a terribly cringy one-liner, and it doesn't quite land the same way as Tony announcing he's Iron Man. It doesn't help that it's followed by Ronan, who is a huge threat in the comic books, getting distracted by a dance-off.

Justin Hammer's Speech

Justin Hammer dances on stage in Iron Man 2

Pen_isnt points out one of the moments a character is literally standing in front of a microphone giving a speech as the best mic-drop. Justin Hammer, Iron Man 2's primary antagonist is attempting to wow audiences with his words before showcasing his new weapons. The character explains to the audience, "The press is faced with quite a different problem," and following a pause for effect that's filled with a smirk, Hammer exclaims, "They're about to run out of ink!"

It's a line that was clearly rehearsed by the character in front of a mirror several times over, almost expecting it to be a mic-drop, which makes it even more hilarious that it goes down like a lead balloon. Everyone in attendance blankly stares at the weapons manufacturer as if they're still waiting for the mic-drop. But while it isn't the best mic-drop, it's certainly the funniest, and Hammer was so entertaining, proving he's an MCU villain who should get his own movie.

Captain America's Elevator Brawl

The Captain American elevator fight aftermath is shown.

Hi_Im_Dadbot thinks the MCU's biggest mic-drop is in Captain America: Winter Soldier when Steve prepares to fight a group of Hyrda agents in an elevator. Before the fight starts, Steve asks, "Before we get started, does anyone want to get out?" Captain America knew he would be the only person leaving that elevator, and the Redditor calls it "so badass."

The line is followed by one of the greatest choreographed fights in the entire franchise. And while it doesn't last for very long, as Cap quickly takes down about a dozen Hydra agents, it's in such a small space that the Russo brothers' detailed shots can only be commended. Every punch and drop-kick feels every bit as impactful as it looks.
