Unsurprisingly, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is primarily about superheroes - of various skills, characters, origins, and ages. The films spent a lot of time trying to create sympathetic characters that will make the audience interested and keep them that way. And it worked - with the MCU becoming the huge success it is today.

But it wouldn't be what it is without a rich plethora of supporting characters. And not just villains who appear only once (or multiple times) but also sidekicks, best friends, parents, etc. The MCU has plenty of those to offer and some of them formed couples that deserve as much attention as the more established love stories in the MCU.

Ned Leeds And Betty Brant

Ned Leeds and Betty from Spider-Man: Far From Home

The MCU doesn't really have that many teenage romances so it's a small treat every time it introduces one. Besides Peter and MJ, the most notable case includes Peter's best friend Ned and their classmate, Betty. Ned plans to flirt with European women during their school trip but he ends up dating Betty instead.

They get together on the flight to Europe and seem very sweet as a couple. And even though they break up before the end of the trip, it looks like they will still remain friends and there'll be no big drama between them.

Happy Hogan And May Parker

Aunt May flirts with Happy in Spider-Man: Far From Home

It's unclear whether this couple will go anywhere in future films. But it would be interesting to see if the relationship between Happy and May would work out. Happy certainly seems very happy with May (pun intended) and he even becomes friendlier towards Peter.

However, May looks unsure and isn't so quick to commit, possibly because of the tragic loss of her husband Ben. Whatever the outcome will be, there's no denying both May and Happy deserve more joy in their lives.

Peggy Carter And Daniel Sousa

Hayley Atwell and Enver Gjokaj as Peggy Carter and Daniel Sousa in Agent Carter

It's true that Peggy Carter ended up with Steve Rogers in the end. But her romance with fellow agent Daniel Sousa also could have worked out. Sousa was intelligent, kind, and attentive. He liked Peggy for a long time but she was still heartbroken over losing Steve.

Peggy and Daniel were circling around each other for quite some time before Peggy finally decided to throw caution into the wind and went for it. There was genuine chemistry between them and they respected and treated each other well.

Odin And Frigga

Frigga and Odin

Unlike their son Thor, Odin and Frigga actually had much better luck at love. At least until Frigga's tragic death in Thor: The Dark World (2013). This couple didn't get much space in the MCU as the films barely showed them together. However, even the few scenes with them make it obvious that they love and respect each other.

Plus, they've been together for a long time, and they wouldn't have lasted for centuries if they weren't in love. That makes Odin's anguish over the death of his wife even more heartbreaking.

Phil Coulson And Rosalind Price

No matter how happy or matched any couple in the MCU might be, it's never guaranteed they will stay together... or stay alive. This is also what happened with Phil Coulson and Rosalind Price. Not only did the stand on the opposite sides at first but Coulson was also buried in his job.

However, they started flirting, one thing led to another and they got together. Despite the fact that ATCU, the organization Price led, was hunting Inhumans. Their romance ended up unhappily when Price died in Coulson's arms but it was good while it lasted.

Jemma Simmons And Leo Fitz

Marvel's agents of SHIELD Fitz Simmons

Even though working for an organization such as S.H.I.E.L.D. can be highly stressful and can make forming romantic relationships dangerous - some people still manage to make it work. Fitz and Simmons are a uniquely resilient couple whose romance evolved alongside the show.

They've faced and survived many crazy adventures together. In the end, they got married, and there's not a couple on the show the fans would cheer for more than them.

Adrian Toomes And Doris Toomes

Spider-Man Adrian and Doris Toomes when Peter goes to pick up Liz to go to Homecoming

It's easy to forget this couple since they only appear together briefly and the films mostly focus on heroes and their personal lives, not villains. But Michael Keaton's Adrian Toomes aka Vulture is one of the best villains. It soon becomes obvious that everything he's doing is for his family, to take care of his wife Doris and daughter Liz.

And when Peter goes to their house to take Liz to Homecoming, it's clear from their banter and subtle affection that Adrian and Doris are a happy couple. Shame their family ends up in pieces after Vulture gets arrested.

Howard Stark And Maria Stark

Maria talking to Tony while Howard looks in Civil War

To be fair, Howard Stark isn't the most sympathetic character in the MCU. On the other hand, Tony is the one who gives up most details about him, and his view can be slightly biased. In Agent Carter, Howard is portrayed as reckless but in the end also a caring person.

And when Tony meets him during the time-travel mission in Avengers: Endgame (2019), Howard reveals his excitement and nervous anticipation about becoming a father for the first time. He also gets a gift for his pregnant wife - these aren't the actions of a man who doesn't love his wife. And it's safe to assume that Maria returned the feeling since if she didn't, she could have left him. This couple isn't perfect but it still works better than most people would presume.

Edwin Jarvis And Anna Jarvis

Edwin Jarvis Anna Jarvis

Before Tony Stark created his AI called JARVIS, there was a real-life Jarvis - Edwin Jarvis worked as a butler for Howard Stark. He was also a good friend of Peggy Carter. And Agent Carter portrayed the loving and teasing relationship between Edwin and his wife Anna.

They've been married for quite some time and the ease of their romance spoke about the love and respect they held for one another. Plus, even when it became obvious that Edwin and Peggy were close friends, Anna wasn't jealous of Peggy which also speaks volumes about their relationship.

Wilson Fisk And Vanessa Marianna

Vanessa Fisk in Daredevil

Finally, it's time to give space to another villainous couple - who, nonetheless, was very happy together. Wilson Fisk meets Vanessa Marianna, a gallery worker, during his crusade against the city. Vanessa initially rejects his romantic interest but once he reveals her the truth about her, they get together.

Vanessa is one of the few people Fisk shows affection to and he would kill anyone who harms her. Even though they're forced to separate for a while, they find their way back to each other and even get married.
