Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' America actor, Xochitl Gomez, reveals that she hopes her character teams up with Loki in the future. Directed by Sam Raimi, the sequel to 2016's Doctor Strange was released earlier this year to generally positive reviews and strong box office numbers. The film follows Benedict Cumberbatch's titular hero as he attempts to protect Gomez's America Chavez from Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), who wants to use Chavez's powers to reunite with her children in another universe.

As is shown off in the film's opening minutes, America has the unique ability to open star-shaped portals to other universes. While she starts off not being able to control this ability, opening a portal inadvertently whenever she feels threatened or scared, by the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, she's finally harnessed this power. The last audiences see of Chavez, she's being trained in the ways of the mystic arts by Wong at Kamar-Taj. With the recent Marvel SDCC panel confirming a jam-packed slate of MCU movies over the next few years as part of "The Multiverse Saga," including 2 new Avengers team-up films, many fans are wondering what might be next for Chavez.

In a recent interview with /FilmGomez discusses who she would like America to team up with in the future, citing both Tom Hiddleston's Loki and Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova. Gomez explains that Loki's mischievous side makes the prospect of a team-up between him and America an "exciting" proposition, but the actor also explains that she's just a big fan of Pugh and is interested to work with her. Check out Gomez's full comment below:

"I find Loki really exciting, to see that mischievous side, but also I'm a really big fan of Florence Pugh so ... that too! There are so many new characters that I would love to work with, like the actors and actresses I'd love to work with, but also seeing the characters as a fan, just seeing them interact would be really fun."

Although Loki technically died in Avengers: Infinity War, a variant of the character later appeared in his very own Disney+ show, Lokiwhere he works as part of the TVA (Time Variance Authority), helping to maintain the sacred timeline. Due to the nature of Loki's new role at the TVA and America's portal-opening ability, the two characters do seem ripe for some sort of interaction in a future MCU film. With Phases 5 and 6 seemingly dealing extensively with the idea of the multiverse, both America and Loki would certainly make for an interesting pairing.

Yelena, on the other hand, is closer in age to Chavez, and Pugh has already proven herself a fan-favorite addition to the MCU with her roles in both Black Widow and HawkeyeIt remains to be seen what the future holds for Yelena moving forward, but the character has seemingly yet to find a strong ally, operating mostly as a lone wolf after the death of her sister, Natasha (Scarlett Johansson). After her introduction in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, America seems poised to play an important role moving forward in the MCU, and Gomez clearly already has some ideas regarding who she wants to team up with moving forward.
