While Marvel Studios won't hold a Hall H panel this year, the famed franchise will still have a presence at San Diego Comic-Con as the annual event is set to release a commemorative 10th year anniversary one-sheet for the MCU.
Marvel Studios is planning to end their year early with their final offering for 2018, Ant-Man & The Wasp, hitting theaters in July. While there'll be an eight-month gap between the sequel and Captain Marvel, that doesn't mean the the MCU would be inactive until promotions for next year's Brie Larson-starrer begin. If anything, there's a possibility that Kevin Feige and his team are planning several things to celebrate the franchise's 10th birthday. But even before that, San Diego Comic-Con is already getting the party started with the launch of an exclusive poster in light of the occasion.
Partnering up with Mondo as part of their 2018 Souvenir Book cover, Comic-Con will be releasing a 10th anniversary of the Marvel Cinematic Universe celebratory one-sheet which was illustrated by artist Matt Taylor as announced on the event's official website. The 8-color silkscreen print measuring 24" wide by 36"tall features almost all major characters in the successful franchise - from its foundational heroes such as Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor, to the villains they've faced over the years such as Thanos, Red Skull, Ultron, and Loki. Check it out below:
Mondo's Comic-Con exclusive poster also showcases some of the newer characters who are expected to be the face of the MCU moving forward such as Black Panther, the Guardians of the Galaxy and Doctor Strange. Noticeably, however, Tom Holland's Peter Parker/Spider-Man seems to not be in the one-sheet - an interesting notion considering that the character is supposed to usher the franchise to its mysterious Phase 4 with Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 following the still-untitled Avengers 4.
The stylized poster will be in limited quantity and will be available through online purchase by a random selection process only. It's also important to note that participants should not be younger than 13 years-old and only those with a Comic-Con 2018 attendee badge linked to their Membership ID accounts are eligible to participate. For those interested in nabbing one of these one-sheets, submissions begin today, June 1st, and will end on June 7th, 12pm PT. Since this is the first print that the annual event has offered for purchase, it's expected that there will be an avalanche of bids coming through the online site, so people are encouraged to place their bids as early as possible to ensure that their entries will be included in the raffle.
Aside from the aforementioned poster, Marvel Studios is also expected to releases a slew of merchandise to commemorate the first 10 years of the MCU. With regard to their involvement in this year's popular convention, Feige has previously shared that while there will be no Hall H event, they're planning "a 10th-anniversary panel." Details with regard to these are still scant at the moment, but as July nears, an official press release about Marvel's plans for San Diego Comic-Con should come out.
