The Goonies have much better things to do than analyze their own personalities while they attempt to escape the Fratellis, dodge booby traps and located One-Eyed Willy's treasure, but that isn't going to stop Mikey, Mouth, Chunk and Data's fans from speculating how each Goonie might score on the Myers–Briggs® Type Indicator questionnaire.
In fact, it's just as much fun for fans to guess which Goonie shares their own MBTI® score as it is to take the test itself. From Chunk the Entertainer to Mouth the Debator, many of us can identify with our favorite Goonies and their personalities.
Chunk: ENFP
Is it any surprise that Chunk would score as the Entertainer? ENFPs are all about being the center of attention, and Chunk is most content when he's telling yet another one of his "amazing stories." Of course, the time he rescued Sloth and his friends is even more amazing than the time Michael Jackson's sister came over to use the bathroom.
Chunk is so spontaneous he can become clumsy. He's one of the most original of the Goonies, which we learn when the Fratellis threaten him with a blender. He's constantly putting on a show, and all he wants to do is amaze his friends, even if it means stretching the truth a bit. As an Entertainer, Chunk also hates conflict, which he continually lets the guys know.
Mikey: INFP
Mikey is the most idealistic Goonie, making him a classic INFP, the Mediator. Mikey is an open-minded dreamer who is filled with passion, not only for his father's stories but the possibility of their existence. He's determined to save their home even if it means getting into the sort of danger that cost Chester Copperpot his life, and his dedication is what inspires the rest of the Goonies to give a hard pass to Troy's bucket even when they're tired and scared.
Like other INFPs, Mikey is known to be impractical, which is why it's a good thing the rest of the Goonies came along on his adventure to find the rich stuff.
Brand: ESTP
The interesting thing about Brand and Troy, who seem as if they are opposites, is that they are two sides of the same ESTP coin. Brand is an example of a healthy Entrepreneur, one who sets goals and accomplishes them, uses his directness and drive to accomplish things and utilizes his sociable nature to become a strong leader, protective of his group even when he doesn't want to be there in the first place.
Like many Entrepreneurs, Brand is pretty impatient, and he likes to make decisions and issue orders quickly. This doesn't always work out, but it's his decisive nature that helps everyone feel as if someone is at least in charge, keeping spirits up much like Mikey does, only in a different way.
Andy: ISFJ
We first encounter Andy as she is supporting and encouraging her cheerleader friends in building the victory pyramid, and that pretty much sums up the enthusiastic, sweet girl. Andy is patient and kind; instead of getting upset over kissing Mikey, she is very gracious about it, even encouraging him to keep "kissing girls the way you do."
Even though she's considered a catch, Andy is a humble person and doesn't like being the center of attention (unless it's Brand's attention!). She gets sensitive and flustered, and being on this adventure definitely overloaded her emotions to the point of stress. Still, Andy is practical and was able to help the group survive by playing the bones.
Data: INTP
There's no doubt about Data being the Logician, or an INTP. This analytical thinker is all about solving problems with his ingenuity, and his imaginative, original ideas can both come in handy as well as backfire on him as he works out the kinks. Data is an open-minded young man who can dream up new inventions every day, and his enthusiasm for science is so contagious that many fans decided to alter their own walkmans at home.
Data doesn't care about anyone's rules, even if they're Mikey's mom's rules about entering and exiting her home. He can get down on himself when his inventions fail, but ultimately he learns from his failures like a true scientist.
Stef: INTJ
The most confident girl among the Goonies is sharp as a whip Stef. With her quick tongue and independent mind, she's the only match against Mouth's mouthiness. We first meet Stef while she's sorting live seafood, and that demonstrates her jack of all trades nature, something common among Architects, or INTJs. Stef might look like a fashionable 80s girl with her bubblegum and cute hair, but she isn't afraid to get her hands dirty at all.
Stef, a strategic thinker, is a hard worker, and when she's adventuring with the Goonies she first feels like she's babysitting without getting paid. Her curiosity wins over her annoyance, and it's clear that her skills are underused in the film, although she did get that cool octopus scene.
Mama Fratelli: ESTJ
Is there any villain among the 80s teen films more formidable than Mama Fratelli? She is the ultimate ESTJ, or Executive, taking charge and plowing through every obstacle, even if it means putting a bullet in a Fed. Her will is stronger than anyone's, to the point where no one isn't intimidated by her relentlessness--except for Sloth, of course.
Mama Fratelli is scary, but she's also incredibly loyal. She could've abandoned Sloth and left Jake to rot but she puts her family first, even if she points a gun on them sometimes. It's too bad she didn't point those incredible organization and plotting skills toward something more productive than thieving and murder.
Sloth: ISFP
Possibly the most beloved hero of the 1980s, Sloth is an ISFP, the Adventurer. Sloth's curiosity, a trademark ISFP characteristic, overcomes his rage when he first meets Chunk. He's so charming that you can't not love him, and he's mindful of the emotions of both friend and foe. Sloth helps his Goonie friends escape but refuses to abandon his family even after they've been cruel to him.

ISFPs can fluctuate on their self-esteem, and Sloth's brothers known this, using it against the sensitive man. Sloth is a creative soul, from his catchphrase to his wardrobe, and even though he does stress easily, he also loves hard.
Troy: ESTP
Like Brand, Troy is an ESTP, but he is an example of what happens when the Entrepreneur personality comes from spoiled stock, much like a certain reality star turned politician we all know. Troy is selfish and cruel, using his sociable skills to manipulate and control people, even to the point of bullying. He's perceptive and direct, picking up on what people want and using that against them.
Like many entrepreneurs, Troy is very insensitive, but unlike Brand, he doesn't manage it well. Where Brand will drop a succinct remark that's not meant to be cutting, Troy will elaborate and push to intentionally hurt feelings. He even goes as far as to physically harm people, which he finds amusing.
Mouth: ENTP
In the book of MBTI® personalities, Mouth's photo should be next to the ENTP, or Debator, as a prime example of the personality. Mouth will argue with anyone over anything, even when it's clear that he's in the wrong, just for the fun of it. He loves to be the know-it-all, and his mouth gets him into trouble on more than one occasion.
Mouth's quick wit is the subject of much hilarity in the film, and his quick ideas definitely come in handy. That said, he's also quick to judge and intolerant of others, making him one of the most unkind Goonies. He's even known to insensitively poke fun at his own friends.
