MBTI® stands for the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. The 16 personality types help people understand their typical characteristics so that they can better comprehend decision-making, their worldview, and individual strengths and weaknesses. The ISFP personality type is called "the versatile supporter".

ISFPs have a broad array of characteristics. They can be open but private at the same time and carefree but intentional. It's important for this personality type to have a way to relax, so here are five comedy movies they would love (and five to avoid).

Love: Hitch (2005)

The main character of Hitch fits well under the career section of the ISFP website page: "They enjoy working independently in roles where their attention to detail is valued. They like to make an immediate difference for people who are important to them—and their choice of career often reflects this."

This is Hitch in a nutshell. Though he takes advantage of his gifts, he cares about helping his clients find love. This is a great movie for an ISFP.

Hate: Material Girls (2006)

This Hilary and Haylie Duff movie was great for many teens in the 2000s. It's not good for an ISFP, though. An ISFP has an awareness of the outside world, its current events, and its people. The same cannot be said for the Duff sisters' characters, Ava and Tanzie Marchetta. They only do something different with their lives when their house burns down.

In response to their tragedy, the wealthy siblings must learn how to work for a living and catch a mole in their father's company. Though they grow considerably as people, their lives are still pretty much about them.

Love: The Wedding Planner (2001)

the wedding planner

Jennifer Lopez plays the caring protagonist so well. ISFPs would love her as Mary in The Wedding Planner. She is so conscientious and anticipates every issue that could arise as she plans people's dream weddings. Well, almost every issue.

She doesn't expect to fall in love with one of her clients, but hey, it is a rom-com. The ISFP would be interested in seeing how Mary solves her problems in this film.

Hate: 17 Again (2009)

Mike smiling and waving in 17 Again

In this comedy, a dad named Mike (Matthew Perry) turns back into a 17-year-old (Zac Efron). Efron is great in the role, but the insular plot and the idea of a character de-aging...it just doesn't make sense for a versatile supporter like the ISFP. There's not enough to support!

Other than a few laughs and lessons at the end, the ISFP personality type might be bored with this one.

Love: High School Musical 3 (2008)

This musical comedy was the only HSM movie of the trilogy to have a theatrical release. It is a much better Zac Efron movie for an ISFP than 17 Again because of how this personality type handles relationships.

In High School Musical 3, the characters' personalities and life goals are punctuated. As Troy and Gabriella start to handle their high school romance as adults, it becomes clear that Gabriella is some kind of ISFP. She cares about other people, but she has wanted the freedom to do her own thing all along. She also can be tough to figure out.

Hate: You Again (2010)

Kristen Bell and Jamie Lee Curtis starring in You Again, sitting at table as mother and daughter

As hilarious as You Again is, it's not right for the ISFP. The movie centers on a 20-something-year-old Kristen Bell, whose character, Marni, has to watch her brother marry her former bully.

There are plenty of lessons for Marni and her mom (played by Jamie Lee Curtis). The premise just isn't a good sign for this personality type so focused on support and harmony.

Love: Ramona And Beezus (2010)

Joey King and Selena Gomez in Ramona and Beezus

Times are tough at the Quimby house, but this introduction to Joey King is good for the ISFP's soul. The personality type loves to focus on people.

The Quimby family offers some great people for the ISFP to consider. They are in debt because the dad has lost his job, but Ramona tries to keep her beautiful childlike view of the world. She actually has insight beyond her years, and the story, based on Beverly Cleary's novels, is engaging for the harmonious troubleshooter.

Hate: The Lizzie McGuire Movie (2003)

While Lizzie certainly wants to follow her path, she is not even in high school yet. So, she probably shouldn't be running around with a strange man, even if he is a pop star.

The ISFP might like freedom and self-discovery, but probably not to the extent that a girl Lizzie's age does, who runs around Rome with people she doesn't even know.

Love: Christmas With The Kranks (2004)

Nora screaming in Christmas with the Kranks

This classic movie is honestly good all year round. Why should the ISFP watch it? Well, the Krank family has a bundle of ISFP characteristics. Luther is a grouch, but he cares about other people deep down.

Nora is certainly a supporter who brings people together. And as for their wonderful daughter, Blair has a huge awareness and concern for the world because she is in the Peace Corps. This is a great movie for this personality type.

Hate: Toy Story (1995)

Toy Story 3

A friendly realist is not necessarily the best proponent for a comedy which requires suspension of disbelief. This means a lot of animated comedies might not make much sense to the ISFP.

Toy Story is a well-done and well-loved film, but the ISFP type would not enjoy talking toys on a mission.
