Every once in a while a truly charming rom-com comes along and Netflix is doing an awesome job in that department. In the film Always Be My Maybe, Randall Park and Ali Wong (who are also co-writers) are estranged pals who realize that they're totally meant to be... (at least, they might be?!). He's an aspiring musician and she's a famous chef, and they go through the normal romantic comedy ups and downs, but this movie is funny, sweet, and a great addition to the sometimes cheesy and obvious genre.

Let's look at the personalities of Sacha, Marcus, and their family and friends. Here are the MBTI®s of the Always Be My Maybe characters.

Keanu Reeves: ENTP

Keanu Reeves in Always Be My Maybe

Yup, Keanu Reeves is in this movie... and he plays himself. This was a really cool surprise.

The actor is known for being a sweetheart and people always talk about how great he is to get along with, so it's fair to say that the Keanu Reeves that is playing is different from the real him. In Always Be My Maybe, he's completely full of himself and can't think about anyone or anything else.

His MBTI® would be ENTP or "Enterprising Explorer" because these types are outspoken, energetic, and challenging. Keanu and Sasha are dating for a little while and go on a double date to a fancy (and trendy) restaurant with Marcus and his girlfriend Jenny. It's clear that he wants to see and be seen.

Mrs. Tran: ISTJ

Peggy Lu plays Sasha's mom, who Sasha doesn't have a good relationship with. Since Sasha's parents really aren't around when she's growing up, she definitely feels that sense of abandon and confusion that anyone in that situation would feel.

Sasha's mom, Mrs. Tran's, MBTI® would be ISTJ or "Responsible Realist." She explains to her daughter that they were working and that was why they were away so much. At the end of the movie, Sasha's parents go to NYC and show that they totally support her and her new restaurant. ISTJs are sensible, realistic, systematic, practical, and value traditions. Mrs. Tran likes that her daughter is successful and is attempting to be there for her.

Veronica: ISFJ

Every movie benefits from great supporting characters but this is particularly true of romantic comedies. Luckily, Always Be My Maybe has a good supporting cast.

Michelle Buteau plays Veronica, who is a good friend of Sascha's. She's about to have a baby and is adorable and funny. She's a wonderful friend but also Sascha's assistant, which suggests that her MBTI® would be ISFJ or "Practical Helper." The description says that they are "patient individuals who apply common sense and experience in solving problems for other people." ISFJs are low-key, which is definitely Veronica, and also people who honor commitments.

Jenny: INFJ

Vivian Bang plays Jenny, a girl that Marcus dates for a bit. Her best scene is when she and Marcus go on a double date with Sasha and Keanu Reeves (which isn't exactly your typical double date).

Jenny is an INFJ or "Insightful Visionary" because she sounds like a "compassionate and quietly inspiring" person, as the description says. She fangirls over Keanu Reeves and is always fascinated to hear what other people have to say. She's not loud and has a "quiet warmth."

Brandon: ENTP

Daniel Dae Kim plays Brandon, Sasha's fiance for part of the movie. He's an ENFP or "Imaginative Motivator." He wants to be a success in the restaurant industry more than he loves Sasha. In fact, it becomes clear that he's not really into being with her at all, and he asks for a break before they can walk down the aisle (such a bad move).

He's independent, that's for sure, and he also doesn't seem to like long-term plans since he's not interested in marrying Sasha after all. ENTPS "are willing to consider almost any possibility," which makes sense since he leaves Sasha behind and doesn't want what he would consider being a boring life.

Teenage Sasha: ESFJ

The beginning of Always Be My Maybe is so charming because it shows Marcus and Sasha's friendship back when they were kids. Audiences get to see them when they are 12 years old and then when they are in their teenage years.

They both change a lot throughout the years so it's fair to say that their younger selves are like separate characters from their grown-up ones. Teenage Sasha's MBTI® would be an ESFJ or "Supportive Contributor." She really wants to be there for Marcus after his mother passes away. She sounds like the description: "sociable and outgoing, understanding what others need and expressing appreciation for their contributions." She's also very loyal.

12-Year-Old Marcus: ESTP

Twelve-year-old Marcus is a lot goofier and feels more comfortable being himself than grown-up Marcus does. He's super sweet because he knocks on Sasha's door and wants her to come to his house for soup. He jokes about being the loser kid at school who brought soup but audiences can tell that he's asking because he knows that Sasha is home alone (like usual).

When it comes to his MBTI®, 12-year-old Marcus would be an ESTP or "Energetic Problem-Solver." He's as friendly as the description suggests and he's also persuasive, like when he tells his parents that he and Sasha want to go out and have a good time. Sure, he's only a kid, but they're cool with it. He's also outgoing and fun-loving.

Harry: ISFP

James Saito plays Harry, the dad of Marcus. He's such a nice man and really loves his son and Sasha, too.

Harry's MBTI® would be ISFP or "Versatile Supporter." He's used to a quiet lifestyle and is one of those people who doesn't want to be a bother to anyone. He doesn't like "disruptiveness" or "too much happening" and he's loyal, understanding, reserved, and practical.

Marcus: Also An ISFP

Marcus is a sweetheart who thinks that since his mom passed away, he has to work with his dad in his business and he can't truly go after his hopes and dreams of being a musician.

Marcus is an ISFP or "Versatile Supporter" just like his dad. He's gentle, loyal, observant, and definitely modest. It's only when Sasha really pushes him to make his dreams come true that he realizes that he can totally do that (and when she buys out his online merch store, which is so great). ISFPs "providing practical help or service to others" which is what Marcus does when he works for his father. It's interesting that they would both have this MBTI® — it proves that they are very similar and that they're both trying to be there for one another.

Sasha: ISTP

Sasha is one of those romantic comedy characters who is so hyper-focused on her job (in this case, she owns a bunch of amazing and successful restaurants) that she's not exactly paying the same care and attention to her personal life.

Her MBTI® would be ISTP or "Logical Pragmatist." She's detached and even thinks that it's an okay idea when her fiance wants to wait to get married and even date other people. She's also regimented, as the description says, and she doesn't like "out-of-control emotions." She doesn't seem to like any kind of emotions, and it takes her a long time to realize that she should be with Marcus (and they do live happily ever after, as all good rom-coms end).
