What it would it be like if a group of aliens lived on Earth to study humans, their likes and dislikes, and how they live? That's the question at the heart of the 1990s sitcom 3rd Rock from the Sun. It's a quirky, warm-hearted show starring John Lithgow and a very young Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and it definitely still holds up to this day.

It's time to take a look at the Myers-Briggs Personality Types of 3rd Rock from the Sun characters. We've covered all of the major characters plus a few recurring ones.

Roy: INFP

Dr. Dick Solomon (John Lithgow) is totally in love with his co-worker Dr. Mary Albright (Jane Curtain) so it's fun when, in the first season, she introduces him to her brother, Roy (Bronson Pinchot). She can't stand him and has a tough relationship with him.

Chaos (and lots of laughter) ensues when Dick and his family realize that Roy thinks that he has seen aliens. Since Roy is a fun-loving guy and he believes very stubbornly that he witnessed life from another planet, his MBTI would be INFP or "Thoughtful Idealist." He's got a lot of curiosity for the world, he's "introspective" and he's definitely "original."

Officer Don: ISTP

Officer Don, played by Wayne Knight, dates Sally Solomon (Kristen Johnson) for a while. He's super proud of being a cop.

Since he's a cop, his MBTI would be ISTP or "Logical Pragmatist." After all, he has to follow the law. He has the confidence of this personality type and he's also "self-determined." He's a big part of the show and also says some pretty hilarious stuff. One of his best moments is when he says, " Sally, I think you're only attracted to my uniform! Do you know what this means?" When she responds "Yeah..." he says, "It means you'll never see me out of uniform again!"

Nina: ISTJ

Simbi Kali's 3rd Rock From The Sun character Nina is a sweetheart who tries to do her job the best that she can despite her crazy co-worker, Dr. Dick Solomon. She spends a lot of time rolling her eyes at him and trying to figure out what he's up to.

Her MBTI would be ISTJ or "Responsible Realist." Her job is to keep the office running smoothly and properly, so she's a rule follower and comfortable with that. She's "dependable and systematic" and also "consistent." These types are very detailed and don't mind getting some things done by themselves.

 Dr. Mary Albright: INFJ

Dr. Mary Albright spends most of her time wondering why Dr. Dick Solomon is so strange and the rest of the time amused by him and his antics. She's very intelligent but also has a whimsical, airy quality about her and seems prone to daydreaming.

Her MBTI is INFJ or "Insightful Visionary." As an academic, she's "quietly inspiring" and often the smartest person in the room but she's not one to brag about it. She's definitely "reserved" and "private" but also a very endearing, kind character.

 Mrs. Dubcek: ISFJ

Mrs. Dubcek (Elmarie Wendel) is the landlord of the building where the Solomon clan lives. She smokes a lot and gives the family very quirky and weird advice.

Since she loves to give advice, that would make her an ISFJ or "Practical Helper." She seems to really care about them and want them to succeed. ISFJs are described as "patient individuals who apply common sense and experience to solving problems for other people." She's "detailed" and "kind" and brings a lot of great energy to the show.

August: INTJ

August (Shay Astar) is one of the girls that Tommy Solomon (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) dates... with totally hilarious results. She's super bossy and a pain to deal with. She's often telling Tommy that she's upset with him or that he's not doing a great job as a boyfriend.

Her MBTI would be INTJ or "Conceptual Planner." These personality types think about the future a lot, which is something that August tends to do since she's very focused on her relationship with Tommy. She's "task-focused" and "deliberate" and also "concise."

Harry Solomon: ESFP

French Stewart's 3rd Rock From The Sun character, Harry Solomon, is a very particular, neat guy. He squints a lot and tries his best to understand what humans are like. One of his greatest moments is in the first season when he tastes tests all of the bottles in their apartment to find out what is toxic and non-toxic.

Harry is very logical in his own way, like when he realizes that humans open their eyes and says "they're manual." His MBTI sounds like ESFP or "Enthusiastic Improviser." He's a "keen observor" of humans and "pleasant" and "easygoing."

Tommy Solomon: ENTP

Tommy is totally girl crazy and a hilarious character. He's always amazed at the world around him and doesn't always get what teachers are asking him to do at school since, of course, he's an alien. He's one of the best characters on the show and a total joy to watch.

Tommy sounds a lot like an ENTP or "Enterprising Explorer." He's got a lot of the personality qualities, such as being "questioning" and "energetic" and "adaptive." It's really fun to see him go to high school.

Sally Solomon: ENFP

Sally Solomon is definitely an ENFP or "Imaginative Motivator." As the woman in the "family" on 3rd Rock From The Sun, she rises to the ocassion and tries to figure out why people are so sexist.

She's "restless" and "expressive" and also "independent." It's always fun to watch Sally stand up to everyone around her since she's stubborn, tough, and intelligent.

 Dr. Dick Solomon: ENTJ

Dr. Dick Solomon's MBTI would be ENTJ or "Decisive Strategist." As the head of the Solomon family, he is number one in command and the person that everyone has to listen to.

He gives off total dad vibes since he has a nerdy sense of humor and a funny way of doing things even though he's not actually their father. He's "clear" and "tough when necessary" and a really amazing leader. This personality type likes "new challenges" which describes Dick as well since he loves being on Earth and discovering more and more about humans.
