As the actor continues to recover from the harrowing accident, the Mayor of Kingstown season 2 poster has removed Jeremy Renner's wounds following the actor's real injury. Co-created by Yellowstone's Taylor Sheridan, the Paramount+ crime drama centers on a family living in the titular Michigan town and making their living off of the corruption in the local prison system while also attempting to bring justice to their hometown. While audiences eagerly awaited Mayor of Kingstown season 2's premiere on the streaming platform, word broke that Renner was involved in a near-fatal accident at his home, resulting in a multi-week stay in the ICU.

As noted by The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount+ has made a minor, yet, vital change to the main Mayor of Kingstown season 2 poster. The key art, which originally spotlighted a battered Mike McLusky situated in front of the titular prison in the wake of its riot, has now been edited to remove Renner's character's wound out of respect for the actor's real injuries. Mayor of Kingstown co-creator Hugh Dillon said about the poster change:

It’s good of the network. Everybody is sensitive to Jeremy.

Why The Poster Change Was The Right Call

Considering the near-fatal nature of his injuries, many are sure to agree that Paramount+ editing the Mayor of Kingstown season 2 poster to remove Renner's wounds was the right call. Though they can't completely change the nature of the show, which has proven to be somewhat more bleak and violent than Sheridan's hit Yellowstone franchise, paying respect to the series' lead actor not only makes for a better spotlight on the studio, but also makes it easier for audiences to detach Renner's real injuries from the series. Other projects have faced similar situations, with everything from the real-life death of Paul Walker prior to Furious 7 heavily influencing the marketing to focus on the actor's final performance, to All the Money in the World infamously reshooting and remarketing much of the film in the wake of original star Kevin Spacey's sexual assault allegations, with both earning largely positive reviews, especially for its treatment of such matters.

All Updates On Jeremy Renner's Recovery

Just a few days after word broke of Renner's accident, the actor himself took to social media to confirm he was recovering in the hospital, while noting that he was in too much pain to properly type. His family would come out with a statement shortly thereafter, offering details about his blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries, while also expressing their gratitude for the outpour of love shared by fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe star. The Mayor of Kingstown actor has also offered a promising update on Renner's recovery, sharing that the actor sent him a video from his hospital bed that was "so funny and profane," and praising his work in the new season.

The biggest sigh of relief for fans of the actor, however, came this week when Renner took to social media in time for the Mayor of Kingstown season 2 premiere to confirm he had returned home from the hospital. At the time of writing, it's unclear how long Renner's recovery will take, or what it will entail to bounce back from his accident, but the confirmation that the Hawkeye star has made his way back from the ICU does prove a promising sign. While audiences keep their eyes peeled for further information on his recovery, they can look forward to new episodes of Mayor of Kingstown season 2 airing Sundays on Paramount+.
