Mayim Bialik, star of The Big Bang Theory, has shared an image of herself as Wonder Woman on social media. CBS's hit sitcom has recently been renewed for two more seasons, bringing it to at least 12 years of this nerd-culture-centric story about (as always) attractive young people who live across the hall from one another. Despite being occasionally controversial, especially for its portrayal of the 'nerds' in it, The Big Bang Theory is one of TV's most popular shows, and the cast is raking in an impressive salary per episode.
Despite not joining the show until the end of season 3, Mayim Bialik has become one of the fans' favorite additions to the nerdy group of friends as Amy Farrah Fowler, neurobiologist and girlfriend to Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons). Bialik is also one of the few cast members who is a nerd in real life, too. The actress also has a PhD in Neuroscience, and routinely takes to social media to talk about 'nerdy' and science topics. Now, she's added some fun fan art, depicting herself as Wonder Woman.
Bialik posted the fan art to Instagram, showing her face photoshopped onto an image of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in the latest DCEU film. The art was created by fan account Mayim.Perfection.Bialik, and was posted with a caption referencing a Wonder Woman-focused vlog Bialik had previously unveiled on Instagram. Take a look:
The image is obviously a tribute to the Wonder Woman movie, starring Gadot, which is currently playing in theaters and breaking all kinds of records. The vlog that Bialik refers to was also posted to her Instagram, and features the actress and her friend 'Chad' as Bialik goes over the basic plot of the movie.
This is obviously just a fun piece of fan art, and doesn't mean that Bialik was ever in the running to play Wonder Woman, but it's great for fans of the actress to see a little tribute to her as a powerful woman. Bialik is a very different kind of inspiration to young women herself, as a successful actress and scientist, and as someone who is very vocal with her opinions - but still has a lot of fun with them, and with her posts. It may be difficult to imagine Bialik being able to hold her own in battle quite the same way that Gadot can, but it's certainly not difficult to imagine her as a role model for young girls, even without the fun photoshop job.
The Big Bang Theory season 11 premieres 25th Sept 2017 on CBS.
