After Interview with the Vampire season 1, AMC will debut Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches show. The series is based on the Lives of the Mayfair Witches, the name given to Rice's trilogy of books. Last year, AMC acquired the rights to 18 of Rice's novels, including those in the Mayfair Witches trilogy and the extensive The Vampire Chronicles.

In a statement, AMC revealed Mayfair Witches has received an eight-episode order, with season 1 set to premiere late in 2022. It will debut after Interview with the Vampire, another series based on Rice's novels. Mayfair Witches focuses on a young neurosurgeon who discovers she is the heir to a family of witches. While struggling with her new powers, she will also be forced to contend with a sinister presence that has plagued her family for generations. Esta Spalding and Michelle Ashford will serve as executive producers and writers on Mayfair Witches, with Spalding also the showrunner. Check out a joint statement on the series from Spalding and Ashford below:

The world of witches has fascinated and terrified for centuries, and yet Anne Rice’s particular lens on witches explored something new altogether – women who are powerful, and often brutal, and always committed to subverting our current power structures. We are so excited to join our partners AMC and Gran Via Productions in making this mysterious and provocative world come to life.

AMC wasted no time getting shows based on Rice's material into development, showing the network takes building an interconnected world seriously and sees it as a priority. No casting announcements have been made for Mayfair Witches, but further details will be forthcoming as the series develops. As both Anne Rice and her son Christopher will serve as executive producers on all AMC projects based on her books, it seems likely both Interview with the Vampire and Mayfair Witches will maintain the spirit of her beloved works.
