Now that season 2 is over, fans are looking forward to Mayans M.C. season 3, and here's everything we know so far. The FX biker drama, which was co-created by by Kurt Sutter and Elgin James and is a spinoff from Sons of Anarchy, found its footing in season 2, following Ezekiel “EZ” Reyes (J. D. Pardo) and the rest of the Santa Padre chapter of the Mayans motorcycle club.

Mayans M.C.'s first two seasons have been centered largely on EZ settling into the M.C. culture and the brewing hostility surrounding with the Galindo Cartel, the rebel uprising led by Adelita (Carla Beratta), not to mention Lincoln Potter's (Ray M.C.Kinnon) ever-ominous federal investigation. EZ and his brother Angel Reyes have been trying to find out who hired Sons of Anarchy member Happy Lowman (David Labrava) to kill their parents, while Miguel Galindo (Danny Pino) and Emily (Sarah Bolger) have been balancing working with Adelita amid expanding Galindo's empire. All the while, the shifting landscape of gang territory has put the M.C. in the crossfire, forcing charter president Bishop (Michael Irby) to make some hard choices, as Potter continues to circle the M.C., the rebels, and Galindo.

Mayans M.C. season 2 concluded with many of these threads reaching a head in some way, shape, or form. The Santa Padre charter took a hit and has decided to declare war on the Vatos Malditos M.C. as retribution; EZ and Angel (Clayton Cardenas) confront Potter with leverage to save their father; and the Reyes and Galindo familial connections have bubbled to the surface. All of this should continue in Mayans M.C. season 3.

Mayans M.C. Season 3 Renewal

FX has officially ordered Mayans M.C. season 3. However, mere days before the season 3 finale, the network announced that Kurt Sutter wouldn't be returning. As the creator of the entire Sons of Anarchy franchise, the news was a bit shocking to fans. Sutter had already stepped back to let Elgin James take over, aware of some complaints about his behavior, but that was viewed as abandonment by executives and led to him being annexed totally. He'd long had a difficult relationship with executives, going back to Sons of Anarchy, and, according to him at least, it seems someone in Disney's management didn't believe he was worth more trouble.

Mayans M.C. Season 3 Release Date Info

Mayans M.C. season 3 should certainly premiere in fall 2020. There are no further details but it's safe to assume that Mayans M.C. season 3 will follow previous seasons. Filming of the 10 episodes, same as the last two seasons, is likely to occur in spring, and the premiere will air sometime in September. This is the same schedule Sons of Anarchy followed and has served FX's motorcycle gang dramas very well for recurring viewership.

Mayans M.C. Season 3 Story Details

The Mayans M.C. season 2 finale effectively brings an end to several ongoing plot-threads, while setting up more. The leverage on Potter means he'll be taking a back seat - if not written out entirely - and the knowledge of the Reyes and Galindo history is leading to a direct confrontation. Adelita is having her child, and with Potter discredited, she can return to Angel and continue her work with the rebels. The new focus for the Mayans M.C. season 3 story looks to be gang politics, since there's the literal war between Mayans and Vatos Malditas, which is tangled up in the Sons of Anarchy and the internal drama from Taza (Raoul Trujillo) killing Riz (Antonio Jaramillo) while he was in a coma. Mayans M.C. season 3 is a new chapter, and there's no telling where anyone's going to end up.
