Matthew McConaughey calms his fans with some words of wisdom during the coronavirus outbreak. McConaughey is of course an Oscar-winning actor with his award for Dallas Buyers Club, as well has having starred in everything from True Detective to The Wolf of Wall Street to a much-parodied line of Lincoln car ads, but he’s also beloved as a general personality thanks to his soothing Texas drawl and laid-back, zen-like approach to life. Indeed, McConaughey is one of those celebrities like Keanu Reeves and Nicolas Cage who may be more popular as a star of memes right now than as a star of movies or TV shows.

With many people around the world experiencing panic and depression in the face of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, McConaughey took advantage of his public presence and broke out some very typically McConaughey-esque words of wisdom in a video posted to social media. In the clip, the actor assures everyone that though the coronavirus may put the red light on people’s daily lives for awhile, there’s a green light waiting on the other end. As always, McConaughey delivers his wisdom with that now-iconic voice, which many people believe is soothing and reassuring all by itself. But McConaughey’s actual advice is valuable too, as he implores folks to take all the proper measures to help prevent the spread of coronavirus while not slipping into paranoia. Hollywood of course has been taking loads of precautionary measures itself, including shutting down production on movies and shows, canceling release dates and overall trying to get out good messages and good advice as people around the world attempt to cope with the outbreak as best they can.
