Funko has revealed new Pops! for The Matrix Resurrections, showing two costumes for Morpheus and classic outfits for Neo and Trinity. The Matrix Resurrections is the fourth entry in the Matrix franchise, once again starring Keanu Reeves as Neo and Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity. Laurence Fishburne played the character of Morpheus in the original Matrix trilogy, but Morpheus is now being played by Aquaman's Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. Director Lana Wachowski is back behind the camera for the film with new cast additions including Nail Patrick Harris, Jessica Henwick, Christina Ricci, Jonathan Groff, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

Abdul-Mateen II played Black Manta in Aquaman (and returns for the sequel, currently filming), as well as the lead in this year's Candyman reboot. The actor stars in Michael Bay's Ambulance in February and is gearing up for a role in George Miller's Mad Max spinoff Furiosa with Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth. Fishburne, the previous Morpheus, recently starred in The Ice Road with Liam Neeson and reunites with his Matrix co-star Keanu Reeves in next year's John Wick: Chapter 4, once again playing the Bowery King.

Today, Funko has shared a look at their line of Funko Pops! for The Matrix Resurrections, which includes two variations of Morpheus, showing off a few of his costumes. In addition, new peeks at Reeves' Neo and Moss' Trinity were shown, wearing their original Matrix costumes, including a glow-in-the-dark version of Neo with Matrix code covering him. The last reveal is the unnamed character played by Neil Patrick Harris, holding what appears to be a black cat with orange eyes. Take a look at the figures below:

The original trilogy for The Matrix was directed by Lana and Lilly Wachowski, who have since directed a number of high-profile projects, some more successful than others. Their first post-Matrix film was 2008's Speed Racer, then the massively ambitious Cloud Atlas starring Tom Hanks and Halle Berry in 2012. While their 2015 sci-fi adventure film Jupiter Ascending was a bit of a disaster, the duo created an Emmy-winning sci-fi series for Netflix, Sense8, with writer J. Michael Straczynski that ran for two seasons.

It's been 18 years since the last film in the series, The Matrix Revolutions, so it's unclear how popular the idea of a new film will be, but for fans that grew up with the films it's certainly an intriguing prospect. The Matrix was well-known for its technical innovations and "bullet time" cinematography that spawned a myriad of copycats after it debuted. It was also popular for the martial arts choreography and inventive action, not to mention the high-concept sci-fi story. The question will now be what The Matrix Resurrections brings to the table in comparison to the original films. Be it something special or not, fans and collectors will at least have some new pieces of collectible plastic for their shelves.
