Carrie-Anne Moss, who stars as Trinity in The Matrix Resurrections, attended the premiere in a striking, Matrix-code-inspired dress. The Matrix Resurrections is the fourth instalment in the Matrix series which began with the genre-redefining film The Matrix in 1999. The final film in the original trilogy hit theatres almost two decades ago, but series co-creator Lana Wachowski has returned to bring audiences a fourth film. Wachowiski worked with her sister, Lily Wachowski, to co-create, write, and direct the original Matrix trilogy, but she is not involved in the upcoming film, as she is taking time out from the entertainment industry.

While the film has not yet opened in theatres for general audiences, some critics have seen The Matrix Resurrections, and the reactions have been generally positive. Critics praised the visual effects along with the story’s boldness, but also worried that the film would be divisive among fans. Some characters from the original trilogy, such as Keanu Reeves’ Neo and Moss’s Trinity, are returning as viewers have seen them before, but there have also been plenty of re-castings. Jonathan Groff will appear on screens as the malicious AI Agent Smith, replacing Hugo Weaving, while Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will be portraying Morpheus.

Now, Moss has attended a premiere of the film in a stunning Matrix-inspired dress, shared to Twitter by @strangeharbors. The image shows Moss in a primarily black, floor-length dress, adorned with a silver and green pattern made of sequins. The sequins are arranged to look like the Matrix’s iconic cascading code, with designer Oscar de la Renta's name embroidered in various spots among them. Check out the image below:

Moss’ outfit is a great call-back to the Matrix trilogy that cemented her status as an internationally recognised film star. There has been intense speculation among fans about the nature of the new film, and Moss’ involvement in it, as the last audiences saw of Neo and Trinity was their deaths at the end of The Matrix Revolutions. Amongst many fan theories is the idea that Trinity could be revealed as the true version of ‘The One,’ but trailers have been particularly vague on plot details so far.

Fans will have to wait until Wednesday for The Matrix Resurrections' official release, which will see it stream on HBO Max as well as show in theaters. The film will no doubt be just as mind-bending as the originals are famous for being, so there should be plenty for fans to dive into long after the film’s release. Whether there are any plans for Moss and Reeves to the Matrix beyond The Matrix Resurrections is currently unknown.
