Showrunner and super-geek Kevin Smith has revealed that his stellar voice cast for Masters Of The Universe: Revelation has finished recording. Smith, who has worked in multiple roles across the entertainment industry, including filmmaker, comic book writer, and podcast host, announced that he would be running the show at the Power-Con Convention last year.

Despite popular trends, Masters Of The Universe: Revelation will not be a reboot, but will instead be a sequel series that will resolve old plotlines from the original 1980s series. The new show will be in anime-style but hasn't redesigned the characters too much, a move sure to keep fans of the classic Masters Of The Universe show happy. Smith is bringing back all the fan-favorite characters, including He-Man (Chris Wood), Skeletor (Mark Hamill), Evil-Lyn (Lena Headey), and Teela (Sarah Michelle Gellar).

And now Smith, who will be hosting a panel at this year's San Diego Comic-Con@Home, has revealed on his podcast, Fatman Beyond that the core cast has all finished recording their lines for the show. In doing so, Smith heaped praise on their work, saying that Headey's performance was "awesome" and that he could listen to her "all f*cking day, man." He added that hearing Stephen Root plays Cringer/Battle-Cat was "absolutely wonderful."

The creator of Jay and Silent Bob also confirmed that Gellar and Hamill, who returned to voice acting after a brief retirement to play Skeletor, have finished recording their lines too. Smith said he has now heard all of the scripts in recorded form and that it was "fantastic" to hear everything "brought to life." Smith also mentioned that recording during the coronavirus pandemic was unusual, given that you have people all over the world, recording "one person here, one person here, and one person there."

While Smith is an enthusiastic and effusive character at the best of times, he seems particularly pleased by what he's heard from his stellar cast. With names like Hamill, famous for his role as Luke Skywalker, Headey, known for playing Cersei Lannister on Game Of Thrones, and Gellar on board, Smith has managed to gather together some of the biggest names in pop culture. So it's not surprising to hear that they've turned in great performances.

It's also a good sign that recording has been completed despite the shutdown, as Masters Of The Universe: Revelation's release date is 2021. With voice tracks laid down, Smith and the rest of the creative team can now move on to locking down the animation for the show and make sure they meet their deadline. Delays are still possible, of course, but fans of He-Man and the rest of the gang will be hoping the show appears on Netflix sooner rather than later.
