After a divisive absence in the first two parts, Kevin Smith promises that He-Man will be in every episode of Masters of the Universe: Revolutions. Smith created the prior Netflix series, entitled Masters of the Universe: Revelation, which itself acted as both a sequel and reimagining of the fan-favorite Filmnation show from the mid '80s. The series saw Skeletor finally succeeding in his efforts to assault Castle Grayskull, only for it to cause his and He-Man's demise and require Teela to set out to find the missing Sword of Power to prevent the end of the universe.
Chris Wood led the cast of Masters of the Universe: Revelation as Prince Adam alongside Mark Hamill as Skeletor, Sarah Michelle Gellar as Teela, Liam Cunningham, Lena Headey, Diedrich Bader, Alicia Silverstone, Stephen Root and Justin Long. First premiering on Netflix in mid 2021, the series scored widespread critical acclaim for its voice cast, anime-like visuals, mature storytelling and subversion of the original show's formula. Despite this, Masters of the Universe: Revelation was met with a lot of backlash from fans of the franchise and the creative behind the next chapter in the series has an enticing promise.
During the franchise's panel at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, in which Screen Rant was in attendance, Kevin Smith offered some insight for Masters of the Universe: Revolutions. The series creator promised that He-Man will be in every episode of the sequel show, explaining that the story will be "all about He-Man vs. Skeletor." Smith also teased that the series with be "incredibly moving" while still full of fun and adventure.
Audiences infamously took issue with a number of elements for Masters of the Universe: Revelation and review-bombed it, though He-Man's absence was considered one of the more controversial from fans of the franchise. Part 1 of the Netflix series memorably ended with Prince Adam finally returning to the fold, only for Skeletor to surprise stab him in the back leaving him for dead and taking the Sword of Power for himself. Masters of the Universe: Revelation Part 2 did see somewhat better reception from audiences as He-Man became a more central figure to the story and a number of characters killed off in the first batch of episodes were brought back.
Given Part 2 ended with a setup of Hordak serving as the main villain for the show's future, it does prove surprising to hear Smith say that Masters of the Universe: Revolutions will revolve around He-Man and Skeletor fighting. While it may be unclear who will be the central threat, Smith's promise that He-Man will be in every episode of the upcoming sequel show is sure to be a more hopeful tease for the detractors of Masters of the Universe: Revelation.
