Netflix has released the trailer to Masters of the Universe: Revelation. The original media franchise was made by Mattel, which follows the adventures of He-Man, a.k.a Prince Adam, and the lead antagonist, Skeletor. The franchise went on to generate several lines of animated television series, comic books, video games, books, feature films, and more. The original television series ran from 1983-1985. The pop culture phenomenon continues to influence more modern series, especially when it comes to the franchise's most iconic characters.

Back in 2019, Kevin Smith reported that he was working closely with Netflix to develop a new animated series that follows He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. He-Man and Skeletor once again face off in a battle where Eternia's fate hangs in the balance. The voice cast includes Chris Wood as He-Man, Mark Hamill as Skeletor, Lena Headey as Evil-Lyn, Sarah Michelle Gellar as Teela, Liam Cunningham as Man-At-Arms, Stephen Root as Cringer, Henry Rollins as Tri-Klops, Alicia Silverstone as Queen Marlena, Jason Mewes as Stinkor, among others. The 5-episode season will be available on Netflix on July 23, 2021.

Smith has previously mentioned his intentions with making Masters of the Universe: Revelation, explaining that his goal is not to reinvent the classic series but to make it something that true fans will enjoy. While a lot of his projects tend to be more geared towards adults, this Netflix series is aimed to be more of a family-friendly show. The idea is for fans of the franchise to embrace it, but also for children to have a lot of fun with it. From looking at the trailer, it appears to do a solid job at keeping the story going in a modern fashion, without sacrificing the iconic elements that longtime fans will want to see and hear.

There's a lot for audiences to be excited about in this trailer. The animation is clear, bold, and colorful along with an abundance of great looking combat. Smith's appreciation and passion for the Masters of the Universe franchise is felt through how he has made all announcements up to this point. His love for this series is also quite clear through the trailer itself. Along with top-tier voice talent, this is a project worth being excited about.
