Masters of the Universe: Revelation season 2 could include some new characters that showrunner Kevin Smith actually wanted to appear in season 1. The second part of season 1 recently dropped on Netflix and it has been well-received by critics similarly to the first part that released earlier this year. The fan response to the show has been highly mixed, as some Masters of the Universe fans find it to deviate too far from the source material, while others enjoy the fresh take on the iconic characters. While the response to Masters of the Universe: Revelation has not been what Smith expected, there is still a chance that there could be more seasons.

Part one of Revelation follows Teela (Sarah Michelle Gellar) finding out that her friend Prince Adam (Chris Wood) has secretly been Eternia's hero He-Man without her knowing. This leads to drama and confronting Adam and those who knew the secret, which results in Teela going on her own journey of self-discovery. Years later, the fate of Eternia is at stake, which sees He-Man die to the hands of Skeletor (Mark Hamill)and Teela going on a quest to save the universe. Part 2 deals with the fallout from Skeletor's actions in the part 1 finale, which ended on a huge cliffhanger.

Now, Smith has talked about some of the Masters of the Universe characters that almost made it into season one. In an interview with Thrillist, Smith is asked about characters such as Mekaneck, Granamyr, and Zodak. He mentions how he would have enjoyed seeing them in the first season, but is hopeful to see them in a potential second one. Check out his full quote below:

"You literally just mentioned two names we tried to shoehorn into our story. If we get to do a Season 2, be assured you will probably be seeing those cats. But we tried. We were like, "All right, what if we did this?" But it turned out we were like, "If we get to do a Season 2, based on what we seeded in Season 1, Mekaneck will be a very useful character there." And same thing with Granamyr as well. But it's an embarrassment of riches with Masters of the Universe because the bench is so deep. I'm sure by the end of Revelation, there will be people who are mad at us, not because of anything we did the story, but because we didn't include their favorite figure."

Masters of the Universe: Revelation is definitely used to utilizing many of the other characters for the story. Part 2 saw characters like Ram Man show up, which Smith knew would delight audiences. The end of the season also set up a new threat that Skeletor encounters, which could be another character pulled from the MoTU universe. Having characters such as Mekaneck and Granamyr show up would be exciting for fans of the original, while also being able to introduce younger fans to these characters. It is also exciting to think about what Smith has in store for them.

Since the showrunner mentions that seeds were planted for these characters in season 1, Smith seems to know what he has planned for Masters of the Universe season 2 if it comes to fruition. It is currently unknown if there will be a second season at this point, though. Smith undoubtedly has ideas on where the show could continue, but there has not been any official confirmation from Netflix. Currently, the streaming giant also has the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe show, which is geared toward introducing children to Masters of the Universe. Until there is an official announcement for more, fans can check out the current season of Masters of the Universe: Revelation.
