Netflix has announced the voice cast for Kevin Smith's animated Masters of the Universe series, with Mark Hamill voicing the villainous Skeletor. The streaming service is already in the animated He-Man business thanks to its acclaimed She-Ra and the Princesses of Power show (which premiered its fourth season last fall). They're now in the process of reviving the original He-Man TV series with Masters of the Universe: Relevation, a continuation of the '80s fantasy-adventure cartoon Masters of the Universe. Silent Bob himself, Kevin Smith, will serve as both showrunner and an executive producer on the sequel series.

With reports of Netflix entering talks to acquire Sony's long-delayed Masters of the Universe live-action film reboot, the streamer could soon become the go-to source for He-Man content. Failing that, fans will get to see what Prince Adam, Skeletor, Orko, Teela, and the rest of the gang are up to in cartoon form when Smith's show makes its way onto the service. And when it does, the characters will be brought to life by a voice cast chock-full of A-list talent.

Mattel Television and Netflix have now announced the full cast for Masters of the Universe: Revelation, with Hamill voicing Skeletor and Chris Wood lending his vocals to Prince Adam and He-Man. Other cast members include Lena Headey as Evil-Lyn, Sarah Michelle Gellar as Teela, Griffin Newman as Orko, Liam Cunningham as Man-At-Arms, Stephen Root as Cringer, Tiffany Smith as Andra, Henry Rollins as Tri-Klops, Alan Oppenheimer as Moss Man, Susan Eisenberg as Sorceress, Alicia Silverstone as Queen Marlena, Justin Long as Roboto, Jason Mewes as Stinkor, Phil LaMarr as He-Ro, Tony Todd as Scare Glow, Cree Summer as Priestess, Kevin Michael Richardson as Beast Man, Kevin Conroy as Mer-Man, and Harley Quinn Smith as Ileena.

You can read Smith's official statement about the cast, below.

“I cannot believe the lineup of talent I get to play with! The incredible, star-studded cast that Mattel’s Rob David and Netflix’s Ted Biaselli assembled for our Masters of the Universe series will let any lifelong He-Man fan know we’re treating this cartoon seriously and honoring the legendary world of Eternia with A-list talent! Chris, Sarah, Mark, Lena and the other amazing actors and actresses have given performances so powerful and real in a show that features a talking giant green tiger! With these fantastic performers behind our characters, it’ll be crazy easy to immerse yourself in the swords and sorcery of our epic sci-fi soap opera!"

A number of these voice actors are either longtime Smith collaborators (like Mewes, who plays the Jay to Smith's Silent Bob, and, obviously, Smith's daughter Harley Quinn) and/or have worked with him before. Wood, for example, met Smith when he directed The CW's Supergirl in season 2 and went on to play a small role in Jay and Silent Bob Reboot last year. Similarly, Hamill played the fictional superhero Cocknocker all the way back in 2001's original Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Skeletor is also the latest Netflix series role for the Star War icon and voice acting legend, following his previous work on the streamer's Trollhunters franchise and The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. Meanwhile, the original Masters of the Universe Skeletor voice actor, Oppenheimer, will be back as Moss Man in the sequel show.

Between the great voice cast and Smith's involvement, Masters of the Universe: Revelation has the makings of a promising return to the animated He-Man-verse. The geek-favorite filmmaker is a relative newcomer to the world of animation, but should be well-served by his time writing about superheroes in comic book form (including his famous "Guardian Devil" Daredevil mini-series). The show will also have the benefit of visuals provided by Powerhouse Animation, the studio behind Netflix's well-received Castlevania series. And though it will start out focusing on the unresolved story threads from the original Masters of the Universe, Revelation might well prove to be an effective gateway drug for those unfamiliar with He-Man, Skeletor, and the other residents of Eternia.
