Co-op board game Masters of the Universe: The Board Game - Clash For Eternia has smashed its Kickstarter goal with over 4,000 backers and more than two weeks of the campaign still remaining. The upcoming tabletop adventure game comes from CMON, creator of other popular board games including Zombicide, Blood Rage, The Others, and Arcadia Quest.

Kickstarter can be a fantastic way to source funding for ideas that might not otherwise see the light of day, with those interested able to back their favorite ideas with different unlockable tiers and rewards depending on the amount pledged. Masters of the Universe: The Board Game - Clash For Eternia is one of many Kickstarter-funded board games based on popular shows, movies, and comics, including an Avatar: The Last Airbender tabletop RPG which earlier this year met its crowdfunding goal in just a day.
Masters of the Universe: The Board Game - Clash For Eternia is a competitive or fully cooperative board game driven by action and adventure. Players can choose between Heroic or Evil Warriors and enjoy RPG-like gameplay involving unique powers and abilities, as well as upgradable skills. The game has obliterated its Kickstarter funding target of $200,000, reaching over $700,000 in pledges with 16 days of the Kickstarter campaign still remaining. By reaching $730,000 the 3D Objective Tokens for the crowdfunded tabletop game have been unlocked, replacing cardboard tokens with plastic models. Meeting the next stretch goal will unlock another member of the Heroic Warriors, Clamp Champ, including the model, HP token, and cards. $770,000 will need to be raised before Clamp Champ is added to the game, though with the project's huge success so far, and its selection as a Kickstarter "Project We Love," the goal seems like it will be hit before the end of the campaign.
Masters of the Universe: The Board Game - Clash For Eternia is looking like a must-play for He-Man fans, offering a new way to experience the 80s classic like never before. The Kickstarter has begun at a good time, as Netflix's He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is about to arrive on the streaming platform. The CG series will reimagine the original cartoon series with new storylines when it drops on September 16. Board game fans will have to wait a little longer, as Masters of the Universe: The Board Game - Clash For Eternia is expected to ship in October 2022.
