A dedicated Mass Effect fan recently built a miniature model of the SSV Normandy out of spare LEGO bricks. Players have dived back into the large and expansive universe of BioWare’s sci-fi RPG trilogy thanks to Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, a remastered collection of the original three Mass Effect games that launched to great success last May. These three Mass Effect games told the story of Commander Shepard, a fully customizable human Spectre tasked with gathering together a rag-tag team of allies to save the Milky Way Galaxy from the threat of the Reapers.

To carry out that mission, Shepard and their team flew across the Galaxy in the Normandy, an experimental Human/Turian-designed cruiser that the Citadel Council assigned them to stop the rogue Spectre Saren during the original Mass Effect. The original SR-1 Normandy model would be destroyed in a sneak attack by the Reaper-allied Collectors at the beginning of Mass Effect 2, but the human supremacy group Cerberus constructed an updated version to allow Shepard to carry out a dangerous attack on the Collector’s home base. This Normandy would then be reacquired and retrofitted by the Alliance for one last mission to gather the scattered alien races of the Milky Way and defeat the Reapers once and for all in Mass Effect 3.

Reddit user Hazelpancake recently shared a miniature LEGO model of the Normandy (via GameRant), which they state they built using spare pieces they had lying around. This model is quite simple in its level of detail, but it still captures the sleek design and blue-and-silver color scheme of the Normandy from Mass Effect 3. Other Mass Effect fans in the comment section have praised Hazelpancake for their work, recounted custom LEGO models they made, and wondered aloud why LEGO hasn’t partnered with BioWare for an official Mass Effect set or two.

Sure enough, there have been plenty of video game-themed LEGO sets in the past few years, both as official products or concepts suggested through LEGO’s Ideas website. Fans have submitted set ideas based on games like Kirby's Dream Land and even replicas of consoles like the PlayStation 5. Meanwhile, LEGO has put out models inspired by Sonic The Hedgehog and Super Mario Bros, and a recent rumor suggests that an Uncharted LEGO set could be in the works. In the meantime, dedicated LEGO fans have recreated many iconic gaming vehicles, such as the ill-fated Forward Unto Dawn from Halo 3.

Hazelpancake’s LEGO rendition of the Normandy from Mass Effect is another one of these impressive creations, made even more noteworthy by the fact that they just built it with some spare bricks they had lying around. Fans might not get an official Mass Effect LEGO set, but there is a chance that they can see the Normandy make a return in the upcoming Mass Effect 5.
