After so many hours with the characters and story, completing a full playthrough of Mass Effect Legendary Edition can be a bittersweet experience. The Mass Effect trilogy is a long, epic tale about Commander Shepard's fight against the Reapers. Even when you finish this massive RPG, it has many different choices and outcomes that can lead to new experiences around the galaxy even when the credits have rolled.

The three games in this trilogy are incredibly replayable due to the choices you make in Mass Effect Legendary Edition as your version of Shepard. Similar to other large RPGs, each game has missions you may have missed, alternate endings, and other possibilities you never encountered. Going back and trying to follow new paths could lead to experiences that are vastly different from anything you might expect.

Many aspects of Shepard can be changed, such as their gender or class in Mass Effect Legendary Edition. The different voice actors between Shepard's genders have incredibly different approaches to dialogue that feel unique despite many responses remaining the same. The various classes you can choose from affect the abilities your version of Shepard has, giving you a way to change your strengths in a new run.

Your moral alignment in Mass Effect games is divided between Paragon and Renegade choices made throughout each entry in the series. Paragon Shepards are typically good-natured, striving for peace but oftentimes forgiving characters in situations where a firm hand may be needed. Renegade Shepards are brash, mean, and sometimes considered "bad," but they tend to get the job done when it counts.

Paragon and Renegade have points tied to making choices for either path. Those who reach a certain number of points in either category can unlock new dialogue prompts and choices in each of the games.

During your first playthroughs of each title, you may have found a balance between both approaches to be well-rounded in any situation. However, it can be fun to see what a true Paragon or true Renegade Shepard looks like, from being an altruistic boy scout to someone who punches reporters. Seeing your crewmates' reactions to these extreme sides of Shepard can be a very interesting way to experience the story again.

Romance options are an infamous part of these three sci-fi games as you can get together with characters you form a connection with throughout the story. The best companion in Mass Effect Legendary Edition your first time through the series may be special, but seeing what bonds could've been formed with someone else can be interesting. Not every NPC is available to romance though, so your options are limited.

Certain crewmates and other NPCs will only fall for you if you participate in their storylines and pick the right dialogue options when talking to them. Depending on which gender of Shepard you are playing, you may have more or fewer choices when trying to find a partner.

7 Unlock New Endings

Find Alternate Conclusions to Each Story

The endings of every Mass Effect game are very different from one another and emerge from the culmination of the choices you make. Replaying each entry can let you see how making opposite choices from your original decisions impacts the story. For example, you could choose to leave the other squadmate behind on Virmire or make the call to keep the Collector base in Mass Effect Legendary Edition.

Talk to NPCs and try to interact with everyone you can to unlock optional objectives you wouldn't have considered in your initial experiences. Visiting worlds after significant story events may also cause different quests to show up as you progress in each game.

Both Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 include a sort of New Game Plus mode in the Legendary Edition. You can begin a new game with the same Commander Shepard for unique bonuses, like extra rare minerals and credits. Some of your gear and unique powers will also remain intact, with some games like Mass Effect 3 even offering a special bonus at Liara's Intel terminal.

New Game+ can allow you to overcome the challenges of the early segments of the later games and achieve goals faster. For example, if you are trying to reach an important dialogue choice later in the game to see how it changes, you may want to get through starting challenges quickly. Keep in mind that not everything carries over into New Game+, so you still have to regain old skills in a new playthrough.

4 Earn Every Known Achievement

With three different games available in Mass Effect Legendary Edition, there are multiple achievements/trophies that will demand more than one playthrough to obtain. This version of the iconic sci-fi RPG comes with several new objectives as well, located in each entry of the collection. From playing through the DLC missions to completing content on harder difficulties, there are many goals for you to strive for.

3 Try The Original Games

If you still have their old consoles and games, they can play the original Mass Effect series to compare the differences from Legendary Edition. While the overall changes in the remaster resemble the original titles, a lot was changed to the gameplay of the older titles in the collection. The mechanics of the past games may hold some nostalgia for you, making the first versions worth going back to for the memories.

2 Check Out Mass Effect: Andromeda

While not a direct sequel to the original Mass Effect trilogy, Mass Effect: Andromeda takes place in the same universe as the original series. You take on the role of a new protagonist named Ryder, who is tasked with exploring the Andromeda galaxy instead of the Milky Way. The search they and their crew go on to find a new colony for humans is a very different experience from other entries in the celebrated series.

Mass Effect: Andromeda received deserved criticism on release for many bugs that rendered the game difficult to play for most of its release window. However, there have been multiple updates and fixes since then that will allow you to judge this new spin-off on its own merits. Playing this game after completing Legendary Edition is a natural step forward to see how this series has evolved.

See What Else BioWare Has Made

Devolper BioWare is known for making other expansive RPG titles with deep characters and immersive stories that may hold your interest after you complete Mass Effect Legendary Edition. The Dragon Age series of games have BioWare's signature story-telling in a fantasy setting, similar to their other title, Jade Empire. You may even want to see BioWare tackle other sci-fi settings in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

Starfield and No Man's Sky can also scratch your itch for intergalactic adventures in the deepest regions of space. Expanding your horizons is one of the best things to do after beating Mass Effect Legendary Edition, especially when you find new experiences inspired by the journies of Commander Shepard's crew.
