Shaggy, who was recently eliminated from The Masked Singer, believed that his song choices on the show would reveal who was under the costume. The reggae singer competed on the show as Space Bunny but was sadly sent home during a double elimination along with R&B group En Vogue, who performed as Queen Cobra. Shaggy's first performance debuted months before season 7 aired during a sneak peek episode of the new singer. As Space Bunny, he performed "Jump in the Line," by Harry Belafonte, and fans immediately recognized his voice. With his North Carolina clue pointing to his song, "Oh Carolina," they were sure he was behind the Team Cuddly costume.

Shaggy also entertained judges and fans with performances of "All Night Long (All Night)" by Lionel Richie and "Now That We Found Love" by Heavy D. & The Boyz. Shaggy also performed Culture Club's "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me?" during a battle round against Baby Mammoth, who was later eliminated and revealed as actress Kirstie Alley. As always, panelists struggled to identify the singer, with Jenny McCarthy thinking it could be Sean Kingston and Ken Jeong throwing out another outrageous guess. The panelist insisted that Space Bunny's clues pointed to The Royal Tenenbaums actor Owen Wilson, but unsurprisingly, he was wrong.

In a recent interview, the former The Masked Singer contestant admitted he thought the panelists would guess his identity based on his song choices. Shaggy told FOX in a video shared by Yahoo News that he chose songs that fell into or around the reggae genre, thinking it would help panelists guess his identity, but it did not. "I was doing all these Caribbean songs, you know? You talk about 'Jump In The Line,' Harry Belafonte, Jamaica. You're talking 'Now That We Found Love,' Heavy D Jamaican." Shaggy continued to list his song choices and point out how they fit into the Caribbean and reggae category. "I figured they would've caught on," the singer says. "But they didn't."

Despite the panelists' incorrect guesses, Shaggy says he had a great time on the show and loved working with so many people whom he's friends with. The "It Wasn't Me" singer also teased a new project he has coming that may seem unexpected for the singer. Shaggy is releasing a Frank Sinatra cover album produced by Sting called Come Fly with Me, after the singer's 1958 hit song and album. The album comes out on May 25 and will feature reggae renditions of the jazz singer's most popular songs.

It seems Shaggy's clever attempt to help The Masked Singer panelists failed. Luckily, the singer wasn't too upset, and Robin Thicke and Nicole Scherzinger did end up getting his identity right before his unmasking. However, the singer had hoped they would've gotten it much earlier in the season. With Space Bunny gone, Firefly, Ringmaster, and Prince are left fighting for the masked trophy, and panelists are yet to settle on a sure guess for those contestants as well.
