This season of The Masked Singer is not slowing down as this week fans met group B and with them the powerhouse singer Seahorse. But who is this anonymous water dweller?
Seahorse wowed fans and judges with her performance of the Rihanna hit "Only Girl." With guesses from the judges like Halsey, Pitch Perfect's Hailee Steinfeld, and Bebe Rexha it was clear they were thinking big. Fans also went big with guesses like Britney Spears, Ciera, and even Big Little Lies star Zoe Kravitz. There was one fan guess though that was clearly dead on the money. Fans of one particular R&B singer were sure it was her and the clues more than support that theory. This is not her first time on reality tv either.
Star of American Idol Tori Kelly sounds a whole lot like Seahorse. There is also a video of her performing this exact song on YouTube that you can see below to compare. If the voice isn't enough to convince anyone how about the clues? The clue package for Seahorse started with a western theme. While most don't think of Kelly as a country music singer, her most recent Billboard chart hit was a song she did with country music star Chris Lane. "Take Back Home Girl" peaked at 55 on the Billboard charts back in 2018. Next up was a bunch of visual clues. The first was a rainbow frog. That one is easy. The pop singer performed "Rainbow Connection" with Kermit the Frog for an ABC special back in 2016.
Next to the rainbow frog were two dogs and a white dove. Not only does Kelly have dogs but a quick social media search shows they look suspiciously like the ones in the clue package. The white dove has fans split, some believe it is a reference to her song City Dove, while others think it more likely points to her GMA Dove Award. In the package, these characters were all sitting around drinking tea. Kelly did Tea with Tori before her shows where fans got to hang out and drink tea with the popular singer. Judge Robin Thicke deciphered the next clue which was a hog with warts to be a Hogwarts or Harry Potter clue. Kelly makes more than one list of the biggest celebrity Harry Potter fans.
Next, the clue package shows a tug of war. Kelly's most popular song "Should've Been Us" contains the lyrics Back and forth like a tug o' war. Her sneak peek clue was that the ocean was dangerous so it was good to have a quiet place to hide. An obvious reference to Kelly's album titled Hiding Place. These clues should be more than enough to convince even the most skeptical fans but if not there is one last thing. Of all the costumes Seahorse gives the clearest view of the performer's body type. It left very little to the imagination. This is a perfect match for the American Idol star. I think its safe to say with 100 percent, ok close to 100 percent, certainty that Seahorse is Tori Kelly.
