The Super 8 has been narrowed down to the Super 6 on The Masked Singer, and one of the two casualties this evening was Seashell. We predicted all season that Seashell was Tamera Mowry, so there was no big surprise in the reveal. But the fact that she was revealed tonight was a surprise for many. While she isn't known for singing, Mowry's performances as Seashell were fantastic. In the end, however, she ended up against some serious talent and, of course, the voting audience is unpredictable.
Fans guessed early on that Seashell was one of the famous Mowry twins, but it took a bit longer for most to figure out which one. The judges struggled a little more with her identity. After tonight's performance and clue package, Ken Jeong guessed comedian Sarah Silverman, connecting the chicken clue to her roasting skills and her role in Robot Chicken, and her role in Lady Dynamite for the TNT clue. This was a step up from his first impression clue of Kristin Chenoweth. Jenny McCarthy kept her first impression guess of Vanessa Hudgens. Robin Thicke's first impression guess was Ashley Judd, but he linked TNT to Napoleon Dynamite star Haylie Duff. Nicole's first guess was Hillary Duff, but she came around tonight to the right answer when she linked the TNT clue to Tia and Tamera Mowry.
Tonight's new and final clue package had several hints pointing to the twins. The "twister, twister" headline pointed to their show Sister, Sister, and the 119 clue was the number of episodes the show had. The TNT clue, which Nicole correctly interpreted, was for Tia and Tamera. We've pointed out in the past that Tamera posts cooking videos on her YouTube show, which explains the roasted chicken and the jello. However, Tia has her own cooking show on the Food Network, so those clues could be either sister. Previous clues included mentions of how the twins rose to fame quickly, like a clue comparing their success to a tsunami. We even got a hint from Cluedle-Doo's clue that no two seashells are the same.
Clues that pointed directly to Tamera and not her sister, Tia, started with week one's hot dog clue. Tamera's two film credits include The Hot Chick and Redemption of a Dog. The chameleon clue was for the role Tamera played as an evil chameleon in an episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark?. A more recent clue was a stopwatch with two minutes on it, which is exactly how much older Tamera is than Tia. This week's clue package had a hosting theme, which was for Tamera's gig as a host on The Real. The final set of clues pointing to Tamera were all the clues about her husband, Adam Housley, who is a Fox news correspondent.
Before joining Fox, Housley was a professional baseball player. Last week's clue package focused heavily on sports, specifically baseball. There were balls and someone swinging a bat and Seashell spoke of being swept off her feet by someone who was a total jock. With plenty of clues, there was no doubt that Seashell was talk show host Tamera Mowry. Fans are sad to see her and her energy go, but look forward to what is to come from the actress, who has expressed an interest in pursuing a music career. She will already have The Masked Singer fans lining up for that first album.
