While fans of The Masked Singer weren't confused at all about the identity of the three band members inside the Russian Doll costume, they were a little confused by some of the clues, and we're here to talk about how the Weird Al clue (and other clues) fit Hanson. The band Hanson's members were revealed to be inside the nesting dolls when they were sent home last night. When the Russian Doll costume was initially revealed, it was only shown as a single doll. The nature of the famous dolls led people to suspect that there might be a surprise (or two) lurking inside.

They weren't wrong. In an early released clip, fans got to see not one but two different-sized Russian Dolls singing the song "Shallow" from A Star Is Born. Two things became instantly clear. The first thing was that those two voices belonged to Isaac and Taylor Hanson of the popular '90s band of brothers behind the hit, "MMMBop." The second thing was that it was likely there was still one more doll to come. When Russian Dolls appeared on the show with only two for their first performance, fans started to wonder if the youngest band member was left at home. However, soon enough, a subsequent performance had him emerge, and the band was back together on The Masked Singer stage.

We'd previously explained some of the earlier clues, including the fact that Russian Dolls often replicate themselves up to 15 times, which fit the number of times the brothers had replicated themselves. They have a mind-blowing 15 offspring between them. The milk clue pointed to their participation in the famous "Got Milk" ad campaign. However, this week's clue sent some fans searching for the pop stars' connection to comedic singer Weird Al Yankovic. It was clear back in the late '90s that the boys were fans of Yankovic, as he directed (and appeared in) the video for their song "River," which was done as a spoof of the megahit movie, Titanic.

Years later, they would team up again when the king of song spoofing appeared in their 2010 song, "Thinkin Bout Something", which took a jab at the classic movie, Blues Brothers. In addition to a working relationship that has spanned decades, they also appeared on The Weird Al Show and have spoken about Yankovic in interviews over the years. Many mentions of Yankovic's career include his work with Hanson. Hanson and Weird Al were both hugely popular in the '90s and have gone on to represent the time period.

While the road to the golden mask is over for the brothers, Hanson fans can expect to see them on the road again soon, but in a different way. The talented trio may have not reached the megastar status they once had, but they've never stopped making music and touring. They've gone on the road for decades. When they aren't raising their many children, they can be found performing quite regularly. For The Masked Singer fans, the competition continues. The finale is approaching and the winner of season 5 will be crowned (or unmasked). There is still another popular 90s boy bander in the competition and he's favored to win.
