The Masked Singer fans are already trying to crack the code of who is inside the Ringmaster costume, and some think she sounds a lot like Nickelodeon's Victorious star Victoria Justice. Ahead of the season 7 premiere, the show shared a promo that included a short clip of Ringmaster singing "The Climb" by Miley Cyrus. Fans were immediately trying to decipher her voice and connect it to a famous performer. The show typically waits for the contestant's premiere performance to reveal their voice, but this season has been taking a lot of unexpected twists and turns. FOX even aired a sneak peek episode a few weeks before the season 7 premiere, which revealed a performance by Space Bunny.
In the past, The Masked Singer has featured many former children's show stars and even had Kenan Thompson, from All That and Good Burger, as a guest panelist. Former Disney Channel stars Bella Thorne, Adrienne Bailon, Raven Symone and Tamera Mowry have all graced The Masked Singer stage, with Adrienne even making it to the top three during her season. However, the show has yet to feature a star from Nickelodeon, though contestants have been known to cover Ariana Grande's songs in the past, making fans question if the former Nickelodeon star-turned-pop sensation actually is behind the mask. Most recently, Firefly performed Ariana's 2018 hit "God Is A Woman" during a battle round against Ram.
Nickelodeon stars may have steered away from the show in the past, but there's a first time for everything, and fans are wondering if Victorious actress Victoria Justice is hiding in the Ringmaster costume. Fans on Reddit first seemed conflicted between Victoria and country singer Gabby Barrett. The country singer is a former contestant from American Idol season 16 and performed Miley's 2009 hit during her time on the show. However, fans believe her tone doesn't match Ringmaster's, and the contestant's voice sounds much closer to Victoria's.
"I listen to Victoria's music every day! I know it's her!!!" one fan insisted. Another fan also felt like the way Ringmaster sang "The Climb" sounded similar to a high note Victoria hits in the Victorious theme song, "Make It Shine." Others debated in the comments section whether or not the Nickelodeon star's voice fit that of the Ringmaster. Many agreed that the two voices definitely matched up, while some others were still unsure. One doubtful fan wrote, "I do not think it's either of them, it sounds more like Victoria, but I do think it sounds a bit different than Victoria too. Unless the clues will point towards Victoria." Fans also debated whether or not it could be another star from Victorious like Daniella Monet, who played Trina, or Elizabeth Gillies, who played Jade.
Fans do have some convincing evidence that Victoria may be hiding behind the Ringmaster costume. Then again, they've only heard one short clip so far, and it can really be tied to anyone. Once the contestant takes the stage and her clue packages are revealed, fans will really be able to start guessing. Until then, they'll just have to keep matching her clip up to Victoria's performances as their only evidence that the Nickelodeon star is on the show.
