After nine eliminations, just half of Fox’s The Masked Singer contestants remain competing for the trophy. Since the September premiere, each of the secret celebrities has performed three times, and it’s quickly become clear that the talent on season 2 markedly outshines that on season one.

Although the competition is stiff, it’s also becoming clear which of the singers have what it takes to win in the end. Without making any speculations about each singer’s true identity - there are other articles about that - here are the rankings of the singers trying to hang on all the way to the December 18 finale.

7. Butterfly

There’s no doubt that Butterfly is a capable vocalist, but as the fat continues to get trimmed from the show, she arguably has the least impressive track record of those left standing, which could leave her vulnerable the next time she performs. At the same time, she famously bounced back after suffering an electric shock from a mishap during a rehearsal, so don’t count her out - Butterfly is resilient!

6. Tree

This holiday homage came out of the gate strong with her covers of “High Hopes” and “Think,” but her most recent performance of a lesser-known Meghan Trainor song probably wasn’t the best choice to showcase her vocals. Given the talent of her competition, she’ll have to turn it back up if she wants to stay on the show until closer to Christmas.

5. Fox

Not to take anything away from his singing abilities, but it is Fox’s dancing skills (be on the lookout for a foxtrot!) that could really carry him far. Given that the studio audience’s votes are so critical toward making it through the rounds, Fox’s tendency to put entertainment foremost in his performances is a sound strategy.

4. Leopard

Leopard has steadily improved since being in danger of going home after his first performance, with “Teenage Dream” being his best effort yet. Arguably, Leopard can be out-sung by contestants lower than him on this list; however, his lavish costume and showmanship make him a standout for the studio audience whose votes determine the winner.

3. Thingamajig

The clues point to Thingamajig being an athlete rather than a professional singer, yet he definitely has the vocal talent to compete with some of the pros on the show. His standout song, Kacey Musgraves’s “Rainbow” in week 4, brought at least one judge to tears. With apologies to Butterfly, it’ll be shocking if Thingamajig doesn’t find himself in the finals.

2. Rottweiler

Not even this dog’s six-pack abs can distract from the fact that Rottweiler is a ringer. His performances seem effortless, but are no less captivating. So long as he makes smart song choices that will connect with the judges and studio audience, getting to the end should be a walk in the park.

1. Flamingo

Flamingo is a star. She can belt, and just as importantly she can emote, despite having her face hidden under a ridiculous costume. Week after week, she’s consistently maintained her status toward the top of the pack, giving her best performance yet in a recent go with “Never Enough.” By all means, the win is still up for grabs amongst the top contenders, but Flamingo has to have the best betting odds with a month left to go.
