After stepping in for Nick Cannon for the first part of season five of The Masked Singer, Niecy Nash is ready to move on to a more permanent hosting gig. Cannon, who was out sick with COVID-19, needed someone to fill his shoes until he was well enough to return to the stage. Cannon's return was bittersweet. Fans were happy to see the now-healthy host back on the show, but it spelled the departure of Nash, who many fans had quickly embraced. Now, viewers get both. Fox has decided to hang on to Niecy, and she's using her Masked Singer experience to move on to her own music competition show.

Fox will be launching an all-new version of Don't Forget The Lyrics! with Nash at the helm. Set to premiere during Fox's 2021-22 season, the show will be a high-stakes competition where contestants sing along with a studio band while lyrics are projected in front of them. At one random point, the lyrics will disappear and the player must continue singing the correct lyrics to continue. If the player completes the lyrics to nine songs, they get to try to finish the lyrics of a #1 hit to win the top prize of $1 million.

Scoring Nash as the host was a huge win for Fox. Not only did she do a fantastic job as Cannon's replacement for their megahit competition show, but her resume speaks to her incredible talent as an actress, producer, and host. The Claws star has accumulated an impressive number of Emmy nominations and wins. She's done work in comedies like Reno 911!as well as serious roles in shows like When They See Us. She has also been on the big screen in projects like Selma. This isn't her first time at the helm of a show either, as she had her own series Do Not Disturb, as well as the cable home makeover show Clean House.

The Masked Singer Nick Cannon and Niecy Nash Bulldog reveal

With all this experience, Nash, who is already a respected part of The Masked Singer family, should be able to steer this new show to success. She isn't the only host Fox has taken from a guest of the top-rated singing competition to their own show. As we said previously, repeat guest panelist Joel McHale is launching another reality competition show after the finale of season five. His all-new baking competition show, Crime Scene Kitchen, promises to be unlike any of the other shows in the genre.

Our prediction for the identity of Cluedle Doo is based on Fox's maximization of these popular Masked Singer guests as hosts of their own shows. It seems like too perfect of an opportunity to lead into the launch of McHale's show by having him revealed to be Cluedle Doo during the finale. He has already appeared this season, like past seasons, giving him the perfect opportunity to film the various segments involving Cluedle Doo, who is often not even on the same stage with the host or performers. Whether Cluedle Doo is McHale or not, it's a safe bet the fans of The Masked Singer will be tuning in to check out both shows when they premiere.
