The celebrities on The Masked Singer season 4 are harder than ever to identify. Mushroom has been one of the toughest of all but we think an obscure YouTube video may have given away his identity.
This week Mushroom shocked everyone by performing entirely in falsetto. The performance of Maxwell's version of the haunting Kate Bush ballad "This Woman's Work", left one of the judges with goosebumps. While fans were very impressed they were also very confused. The judges once again went Hamilton actor Anthony Ramos, Community's actor Donald Glover, and musician Usher. Fans named a Hamilton star of their own with lots of them guessing Leslie Odom Jr. for the second time this season while others thought for sure Pose star Billy Porter was behind the fabulous fungi.
We however think the overwhelming number of Hamilton puns may have been pointing at yet another actor to perform in the beloved play, Jordan Fisher. YouTube clips of Masked Singers performing songs they chose to perform on the show isn't entirely new. Last season we showed you a video of Gronk singing the Vanilla Ice hit "Ice Ice Baby" that removed any doubt to the fact that he was behind the White Tiger mask. This season our pick for Sun, country singer LeAnn Rimes, was found on YouTube singing the same Lizzo hit Sun sang. Now we've found a video of Jordan Fisher singing the same song Mushroom performed in a very familiar sounding falsetto. Listen for yourself:
Now if the similarities in the performances aren't enough to convince anyone, there is still more. The clue package this week lines up well with the To All The Boys I've Loved Before: P.S. I Still Love You star. First, the many Hamilton references fit Fisher who took over the dual roles of John Laurens / Philip Hamilton from judges guess Anthony Ramos. In Mushroom's clue package, there were mentions of having started in the rat race with mouse ears and cheese. While many took this to mean the business rat race it's more likely it was speaking of a very specific literal rodent, Mickey Mouse. Fisher did get his start on Disney.
There was a stage with judges which because of a star backdrop many took to mean Star Search. However, Fisher appeared on and eventually won another competition show with "star" in the title, Dancing with the Stars. One of the biggest clue matches however is Mushroom's telling of turning a hobby into a career. Fans of Fisher know that he is big on Twitch where he streams regularly playing video games. That is definitely a hobby that he's made a second career of doing. The sneak peek clue was that you'd have to figure out who was under Mushroom's hats. This week's package showed a hat as well. While at first glance this doesn't seem to fit with the heartthrob, if you go to his online shop you will find only two items for sale, two different hats. This combined with the video makes us think it's likely Mushroom is Jordan Fisher.
