Based on the massive reaction to season 1, The Masked Singer’s premise is a big hit. Here’s everything we know about season 2.

The Masked Singer Has Been Renewed For a Second Season

The Masked Singer The Bee

Fox renewed The Masked Singer last January, so fans can expect at least one more season full of lively performances and colorful costumes. There’s a precedent for the format, as the American series is based on the South Korean program The King of Mask Singer, which premiered in 2015 and has aired for nearly 200 episodes since.

With established singing competitions like ABC’s American Idol and NBC’s The Voice returning for new seasons, The Masked Singer offers something different on Fox. Instead off featuring stars-in-the-making, the series taps into pop culture nostalgia, allowing audiences to reconnect with familiar names of the past, and even some popular names from modern pop culture, too.

When Will The Masked Singer Season 2 Premiere?

The Masked Singer The Peacock

As of now, The Masked Singer season 2 doesn’t have an official premiere date. However, it’s likely that Fox will incorporate the reality series into the summer schedule. The Masked Singer premiered on January 2, 2019 to kick off the midseason schedule and aired through February 27.

For context, NBC's The Voice typically airs from February to May, and September to December. For American Idol’s first season on ABC, the competition aired from March to May. If Fox brings back its competition for the summer schedule, The Masked Singer season 2 will most likely premiere at the end of May.

Fox’s Alternative Entertainment president Rob Wade has suggested that plans for The Masked Singer season 2 have not been finalized. After the season 1 finale, the network will (via Deadline) assess the final episodes to decide how the format can improve for the second installment. However, Wade did offer the following statement (via Variety): “I am so happy to see a singing Peacock burst into pop culture! ‘The Masked Singer’ is unique, bold, original and embraces the DNA of all the best Fox unscripted shows. We look forward to Season Two being even more fun, weird and wonderful than the first.” According to the same report, The Masked Singer's security will be improved given the series’ popularity and premise.
