The Masked Singer season 8 format seems a little suspicious, making fans believe it could be rigged. This season, the show implemented theme nights and two eliminations per episode. Some of the season’s themes have been Vegas night, Andrew Lloyd Webber Night, and 90s Night. At the end of every episode, fans vote for their favorite contestant, and the performer with the least amount of votes immediately unmasks. The remaining two go head to head in a battle royale performance, and fans vote again on who they believe did better. The winner moves on to another round, and the loser unmasks.

However, The Masked Singer fans aren’t falling for this elimination method after noticing a common pattern with the eliminated contestants. Since adding the theme nights, it seems the contestants who are eliminated match the theme of the night. This became evident during Vegas night when ventriloquist Jeff Dunham was eliminated. The star had a Vegas residency in 2014 at the Planet Hollywood Casino & Resort. It became even more obvious during TV night when The Brady Bunch brothers and Shark Tank’s Daymond John were eliminated. This pattern didn’t apply much to Andrew Lloyd Webber night or Muppet Night but came back in full force for 90s night. Joey Lawrence, known for his roles in 90s sitcoms Blossom and Brotherly Love, was behind the Walrus costume.

Fans Might Not Control Who Goes Home On The Masked Singer

The Masked Singer fans have always questioned how much the studio audience’s votes really count. In past seasons, it seemed like contestants would get eliminated once panelists started getting close to guessing their identities. The Masked Singer season 8 contestant Gloria Gaynor seemed to confirm this when she said she would advise future contestants to disguise their voices so they can stay on the show longer. However, panelists started to guess Amber Riley as Harp, which fans are sure is correct, but the contestant is still on the show and has moved on to the semi-finals. Also, the Lambs were not unmasked during 90s night even though fans are positive they are the 90s girl group Wilson Phillips.

While The Masked Singer wants fans to believe the studio audience is controlling which contestants stay and which ones go, producers are a little more clever than that. They know how to manipulate the show behind the scenes in order to keep fans entertained and on the edge of their seats. While fans typically figure out contestants’ identities fast, they like watching the panelists guess. Once a panelist figures out who someone is, they’re going to keep guessing that person until they’re revealed, and more clue packages will only solidify their guess Fans might get bored of this as it kills the mystery. Fans like hearing other possibilities even if they’re positive their guess is correct.

Since The Masked Singer isn’t live and is filmed months in advance, it’s easier for producers to manipulate things. They can strategically plan how the season will unfold before they even start filming. Despite how the studio audience votes, The Masked Singer producers may already know who they want to win the season. For season 8, fans are convinced that Harp will win because of her incredible vocals and how much fans have loved watching her. Hall of Fame Night is the next The Masked Singer theme night, and fans will be closely watching to see which revealed contestants match the theme.
