The Masked Singer season 7 has yet to air, but fans already think they've spotted a clue that proves the Cobra costume is a trio of singers. Fox announced in late January that season 7 of the popular singing competition show would air on March 9th. The show has switched up its format for most seasons to keep fans interested, and season 7 is no different. This time around, contestants have been split into three groups — the good, the bad, and the cuddly. Fox has since revealed all the costumes, and despite only airing one sneak peek, fans already have convincing theories about who's behind each mask.
Despite fan excitement, the show also raised some controversy this season when word got out that Rudy Giuliani was hiding behind one of the costumes, causing both panelists Robin Thicke and Ken Jeong to storm off stage in protest. While some fans threatened to protest the season, other fans are still tuning in and are very excited to sit down and watch the season 7 sneak peek on Sunday night. Some viewers are even convinced they already know who Space Bunny is based on his debut performance, and the first clue in the sneak peek.
At the end of the sneak peek, Fox revealed a short trailer for the upcoming season, and fans believe the trailer revealed one crucial detail about the Cobra, namely that it's not just one performer, but three. The Masked Singer fan and YouTuber Joey Contino pointed out the detail in a YouTube video, and he and his subscribers seem pretty convinced. According to his video, in one clip from the trailer, Cobra appears to be standing on stage with two other Cobras singing behind her. However, as the YouTuber analyzes the clip closer, he realizes there may be 3-5 performers.
One subscriber seemed equally as excited about the possibility of multiple Cobra's and commented, "Okay, unlikely, but I'm convinced the Spice Girls are reforming as Queen Cobra." While the members of the Spice Girls have not appeared on the US version of the show, Mel B did appear on The Masked Singer UK, and other girl group members like Destiny Child's Michelle Williams and The Cheetah Girls' Adrienne Bailon have competed on the show. Also, If Cobra is a trio, they wouldn't be the first, as brother boy-band Hanson competed together as the Russian Dolls during season 5 of the show.
The Masked Singer is known for its unexpected twists and surprises, like when season 4's cluedledoo turned out to be panelist Jenny McCarthy's husband. It's definitely not an unrealistic theory. While the sneak peek only revealed one Cobra giving out clues about her identity, the show could very likely be trying to throw fans off their game. Unfortunately, it's not working as The Masked Singer detectives are clearly already decoding every hint and sign. While the theories are convincing, fans still have a couple of weeks until the truth about Cobra is revealed.
