Tickets are now officially on sale for Mary Poppins Returns. The sequel to Disney's Oscar-winning musical Mary Poppins is hitting theaters 54 years after its predecessor, but picks up some 25 years after the events of the first movie. Emily Blunt steps into the role of the Practically Perfect nanny herself in the film, with Lin-Manuel Miranda costarring as Jack - a lamp-lighter who apprenticed under Bert (Dick Van Dyke) from the original film and helps Mary on her new mission to help Michael and Jane Banks (Ben Whishaw and Emily Mortimer), now that they're all grown up and, in Michael's case, have children of their own.

With just over three weeks left until Mary Poppins Returns hits theaters, Disney has entered the final stage of its marketing blitz for the film. The studio released several Mary Poppins Returns character posters earlier this month and has unveiled even more clips and TV spots for the movie since then. Two more TV promos have been released online today alone, including one in which Blunt and Miranda reveal that tickets for the sequel are available for purchasing.

In addition to the announcement video with Blunt and Miranda, the Mouse House has unveiled a more traditional Mary Poppins Returns TV spot that mentions that tickets are now on sale towards the end. Box Office Pro is currently projecting that Mary Poppins Returns will gross $40 million over its first weekend at the U.S. box office, following its release in theaters on Wednesday, December 19. Moreover, the film is expected to have long legs at the domestic box office over the winter holidays and New Year frames, even in the face of competition from big-budget tentpoles like Aquaman and Bumblee (not to mention, Mortal Engines and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which open five days earlier). Assuming the film is as well-received by audiences as the early Mary Poppins Returns reactions suggest it will be, it could easily benefit from repeat attendance in theaters, much like last December's own hit musical, The Greatest Showman.

Mary Poppins Returns is far from director Rob Marshall's first musical rodeo, either. The filmmaker previously directed the Best Picture Oscar-winner Chicago, as well as Disney's hit adaptation of the stage musical Into the Woods (which debuted in theaters in December 2014). Marshall did suffer a critical/commercial misfire with his big screen take on Nine (a Broadway musical adaptation of Federico Fellini's 8 1/2), but the odds seem in favor of Mary Poppins Returns becoming both a critical darling and financial success right now. So, with that in mind, those planning to see it may want to pick up their tickets sooner than later.
