Warning: This article contains major spoilers for Loki episode 6

Marvel's What If...? has continued to be teased in the trailers for the Disney+ show and there's already a number of timelines revealed for the series. With the show helping to transform the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the Marvel Cinematic Multiverse, there's plenty of alternate realities to explore.

Many of these new worlds feature familiar heroes shifting completely into new roles. While not every reality has been distinctly set out, from everything that's been revealed so far about the show, there are clearly some planned timelines that fans will get to explore. Most will allow characters to be developed in unique ways.

A World Without Iron Man

Killmonger saving Tony Stark in What If.

Without the bunker, Tony Stark would have never have become Iron Man. Without one of the MCU's best Avengers, the whole franchise looks incredibly different. In one timeline, the trailer shows that Stark is actually saved from his fate by Killmonger (who is clearly operating as a hero).

This change in the timeline massively shifts how the Avengers come together and perhaps the technology available to Earth's mightiest in general. This alternative reality could result in a completely different superhero team forming, but also could see Killmonger as an even more legitimate threat to the throne of Wakanda.

Master Of The Dark Arts

Doctor Strange conjuring In What If

The Master of the Mystic Arts, Doctor Strange has devoted the past few years of his life fighting against the evil of the Dark Dimensions. But, there appears to be a reality where he taps into this power, much like The Ancient One before him. The result seems to be an evil version of the magic-user.

The Sorcerer Supreme shouldn't utilize dark magic very often as so much power has been known to corrupt. The comics have seen Strange weakened by such spells and there's a possibility that this evil version of the character could be explored further in The Multiverse Of Madness, perhaps changing the MCU forever.

Ultron's Vision

Vision and Mind Stone What If

The timeline that fans are familiar with saw Ultron ultimately defeated by Vision and The Avengers. What If...? seems to be showing an alternative take on the moment, where Vision instead dethrones his creator. Here Vision has taken on the armor of Ultron.

With new purpose and power, this timeline appears to show the Age of the Android, with Vision gaining hold of the Infinity Stones to use at his will. This reality appears to be a dangerous one, where Vision is all-powerful, bending the world to his will.

A Wakandan Guardian

Black Panther and Yondu in What If.

The Guardians of the Galaxy are a very different team without their leader Star-Lord. Wakanda is an extremely different place without King T'Challa. In one reality, Yondu picks up the young prince from his home and takes him off into the stars. The former Black Panther becomes the new Star-Lord.

In this reality, he has a close partnership with Yondu and is a member of the Ravagers. However, he clearly leaves the group at some stage to form an alternative version of the Guardians; one that seems complete with a Gamora who has taken on Thanos's role. Wakanda has likely been left under the protection of a different King and the mysterious Dora Milaje.

Carter And Stark

Captain Carter on a defensive pose in What If.

America's contributions to World War II in the current MCU timeline saw the creation of Captain America to fight for the allies. Without Steve Rogers though, an alternative timeline takes place where Agent Peggy Carter instead picks up the mantle.

In this world, Howard Stark manages to create his own version of the Iron Man armor for Steve Rogers, with the two teaming up to face off against the Red Skull, Hydra, and Arnim Zola. It's a reality that demonstrates that the good guys can still come out on top.

King Loki

Loki What If with a magical artefact

Of all the alternative realities fans may see, one where Loki is King is the most expected. Marvel's Loki has demonstrated that there's plenty of different timelines which see Loki succeed and fail in an infinite amount of ways. One where he conquers Asgard has been teased in the trailer.

It's unclear how he manages such a victory, but clearly, he has an ally or army on his side that he once didn't. Perhaps without the threat of Thor to thwart his plans, Asgard was easily conquered. It's also hard to tell whether he is a benevolent leader or completely maniacal.

Scott Lang's Jar Head

Scott Lang Head in a Jar in What If

One alternative reality see's Scott Lang far away from the Ant-Man suit he's been known to wear and instead sees the character's head in a jar. It's pretty on-brand for Lang, but there's not a lot of logic to how this could have happened unless it was an accident in battle.

With Lang in a jar, there's also a strong chance that someone else has picked up the Ant-Man mantle. Perhaps Hank Pym has been forced out of retirement, or someone else has been found for the role. There's definitely some hope that Luis has stepped up to the plate.

Zombies

Zombie Iron Man in What If.

There's plenty of Avengers who could survive a zombie apocalypse, but fans of the comics will know that the Marvel Zombies storyline only ended in bloodshed. Clearly, there is a reality in the MCU which sees this Zombie outbreak begin and take hold of the Earth's mightiest heroes.

This is an incredibly dangerous reality, one where anyone could fall victim to the disease that's spreading through humanity. The Zombie timeline is something that fans hope to see in live-action as well but is clearly going to be at least an episode on Disney+.

A Team-Up Timeline

Marvel's What If Iron Man, Captain Carter and the Howling Commandos

Some MCU fan theories suggest that there may be an episode of What If...? which sees the various timelines team up with one another. If this is the case, then this must happen within a reality which isn't going to implode with plenty of different Variants all in the same place.

The threat they are facing appears to be Shuma Gorath, a mystical and multi-dimensional creature of epic power. The trailer showcases this Variant Avengers coming together with a Black Panther and T'Challa's Star-Lord in the same team for instance.

Uatu's World

Uatu in the Watcher in What If?

The Watchers have sometimes been portrayed as having their own reality or dimension which they live in, watching over the rest of the timelines from this location. There's plenty of shots in the trailer that show Uatu in the wider cosmos.

After seeing Kang's own home at the center of the timeline, it wouldn't be surprising to see that this cosmic location is a separate reality where the Watchers reside to do their job. Perhaps the entrance has already been seen in Guardians Of The Galaxy: Vol 2where Stan Lee acts as an informant to the deities.
