A tweet on March 21 from the voice actor Tony Todd (via IGN), who plays Venom in the game, may have shortened that timeframe. Tony Todd's tweet alleges that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will launch in September, with a marketing push to lead up to it in August.
The tweet from Tony Todd was in response to another tweet that simply said the game can't come soon enough. The actor's leak seems to be genuine excitement, although nothing is official until confirmed by Insomniac Games. With the release window coming that soon, and this leak happening now, it is possible Insomniac could issue a statement fairly soon.

The leaked month of September for the release of the game is already building that excitement among fans as the anticipation is becoming real.
