New fan art for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has reimagined Miles Morales' suit for the game, bringing it more in line with Peter Parker's. Insomniac's next entry in the Marvel's Spider-Man series is due to feature both Peter and Miles as Spider-Man as they take on a new threat from fan-favorite villain-cum-antihero, Venom.
The first Marvel's Spider-Man game focused primarily on Peter Parker and established a more mature take on the character in his early 20s, with Miles Morales appearing in a supporting role. The second entry, 2020's Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, followed Miles' story as a relatively new Spider-Man who had to figure out how to protect New York on his own in Peter's absence. When Insomniac revealed its first trailer for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 at Sony's September 2021 showcase, it showed the two Spider-Men fighting side by side and unveiled some new features in Peter Parker's suit, which boasts new red mechanical arms along the lines of those seen in the Superior Spider-Man comics, where Doctor Octopus inhabited Peter's body. Fans have theorized that this evidence points to a future Superior Spider-Man storyline, but for now, nothing is known about how Peter acquired these upgrades.
Artist Grégory Félicité took to Twitter to showcase his new fan art for the upcoming title featuring both Spider-Men ready to spring into battle. In this piece, Félicité chose to add a major upgrade to Miles' suit that wasn't shown in the Marvel's Spider-Man 2 reveal trailer, with his new take on the design featuring sleek black and red mechanical arms to match Peter's. The fan art has gone down well with fans, and has received high praise from Insomniac Games' official Twitter account, which retweeted it and called it "AMAZING".
Both Marvel's Spider-Man and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales featured numerous alternate suits from across the characters' appearances in the comics and in other media adaptations. Each suit came equipped with custom perks that could then be added to any other suit the player chose, such as Peter's Iron Spider arms or Miles' Into The Spider-Verse suit's "Bam! Pow! Wham!" and "Vibe The Verse" modes that matched the aesthetic of the 2018 award-winning animated movie. Rumors have indicated that with Venom's arrival in Marvel's Spider-Man 2, both Peter and Miles may be receiving a variety of "Venomized" suits as well, which could bring their own special - and likely more brutal - perks.
Given the acclaim that Félicité's artwork has garnered, it's possible that some may be hoping that a new feature for Miles Morales will appear in Insomniac's upcoming sequel. Despite rumors of multiple playable characters and symbiote-enhanced gameplay in Marvel's Spider-Man 2, there has currently been little official information revealed outside of the characters shown in its first trailer, as well the news that it will have a darker tone than its predecessors. With the game due to release exclusively on PlayStation 5 in 2023, more concrete details should arrive soon.
