An interesting Marvel's Spider-Man glitch seems to feature the black symbiote suit, suggesting that the iconic costume may have originally been included in the game. Insomniac Games' open-world adventure, released exclusively on PlayStation consoles in 2018, allows players to step into the web-swinging shoes of Marvel's friendly neighborhood hero. The beloved superhero title is known for its large line-up of alternate costumes, with Marvel's Spider-Man on PlayStation 5 recently getting new suits inspired by Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Marvel's Spider-Man featured a hearty host of different cosmetic skins at launch, ranging from Insomniac's original Advanced Suit to outfits pulled from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The title's downloadable campaign The City That Never Sleeps added nine additional costumes, including the comic book-inspired Iron Spider Armor and Peter Parker's animated design from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Through free updates Insomniac Games continued to expand this already generous roster of Spider-Man designs, adding more suits such as Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's costumes from their respective live-action films. Even still, fans continue to request even more additions, with the Amazing Spider-Man 2 suit being perhaps the most highly-requested cosmetic.

In an unusual Marvel's Spider-Man glitch, Reddit user Lovekiller745 seemed to accidentally acquire part of the hero's iconic black suit. While viewing the Advanced Suit in the game's menu the top half of the costume became completely black, with only the eyes and large white chest insignia remaining white. Without color Insomniac's original design greatly resembles the traditional black suit, which plays a notorious role in Spider-Man's comic history and Venom's origin story. Some commenters even suggested that the black suit was originally intended for inclusion in Marvel's Spider-Man, so this glitch may be partially resurrecting that abandoned feature.

While the beloved black suit is not available for use in Marvel's Spider-Man, it seems certain that the symbiotic costume will make an appearance in Marvel's Spider-Man 2. It has been confirmed that Venom will play an antagonistic role in the 2023 sequel, and rumors suggest that every Marvel's Spider-Man 2 suit will have a symbiote variant. This feature would effectively double the number of costumes available in the game, and it would turn Lovekiller745's black suit glitch into a reality. While black suit variants are not confirmed, it is very likely that at least one symbiote suit will appear in Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

Marvel's Spider-Man already contains almost 50 different suits, each one paying homage to a piece of the wall-crawler's colorful history. However, Lovekiller745's black suit glitch suggests that one more alternate costume was intended for inclusion in the game. While fans will never be able to actually play with this black Advanced Suit in the first game, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 can make that fantasy a reality.
