Marvel: Midnight Suns has been released, and fans are already moving to purchase the game. It's certainly not a normal superhero game, with combat mainly dealt through cards that allow the characters in game to launch attacks or use certain skills to beat the enemies they fight.

One of the many characters in the game is Wolverine, the most famous mutant in the entire Marvel Universe. While he has many different cards with incredible abilities to take on the villains, some of his cards are better than others, and players should certainly focus on acquiring and upgrading these cards first.

10 Stink Of Fear

Wolverine's new Midnight Suns armor

The various cards that hold Wolverine's healing factor make him a prime target as all enemies will focus on him. Stink of Fear, in particular, manages to draw them in thanks to the power Taunts.

Stink of Fear allows Wolverine to Taunt all enemies in a certain area, forcing them to only target him and take the majority of the damage instead of his weaker allies. Not only that, but the card also gives him a Counter ability, letting him deal damage to an enemy that attacks him. It's certainly a valuable card to obtain for any combat situation.

9 Chain Swipes

It's important for Wolverine to be able to attack as many people at once (especially Wolverine's greatest rivals). Luckily, he has multiple cards in Midnight Suns that allow him to do just that, including Chain Swipes.

Not only does this card allow Wolverine to chain up to 3 enemies in an attack, but it also applies Taunt, forcing any enemies, once again, to attack Wolverine (who can easily heal up from these attacks thanks to his healing factor). It's a great card to use when facing down swarms of enemies, although its low damage does make it a little less useful than some of Wolverine's more powerful cards.

8 Rapid Healing

Only one thing has let Wolverine survive the worst things that have happened to him, and that's his healing factor. Luckily, this has allowed him to have a few cards in the game that let him use it.

One such card is Rapid Healing. This card allows Wolverine to restore some of his health while also cleansing him of all negative effects. The only downside to this card is that it's only playable when Wolverine is unable to act, making its use limited. But when players can use it, it can easily get Wolverine back in the fight and ready to take more massive hits for his allies.

7 Piercing Slash

As any gamer knows, having to deal with enemy blocks can be a seriously annoying process. Thankfully, Wolverine's Piercing Slash card lets players deal with that problem the only way possible: by doing more damage.

With this card, players can do extra damage to enemies that have the Block effect applied to them, essentially negating the effect and doing even more damage than normal (making the enemy pay for trying to defend themselves better). Though the card is mainly only effective on enemies with Block active, it's still a great card to pull out - especially if players have to deal with multiple enemies with Block in one encounter.

6 Midnight Special

A character's ultimate ability is a devastating thing to use against any enemy, and Wolverine's legendary ability in Midnight Suns is no different.

This ability, known as Midnight Special, may be costly, making the player consume all their Heroism charges, but the results are well worth it. Once played, Wolverine will not only damage as many enemies as he has Heroism, but the amount of damage will increase for every enemy attacked. The only downside is that this card also has the Exhaust status effect to it. But despite this, Midnight Special is a worthy super move for Wolverine to devastate his enemies (no matter what they do).

5 Rapid Regeneration

Even the most powerful versions of Wolverine still need the famous healing factor to keep them going. But with this card, Wolverine can keep fighting, even after being downed.

Rapid Regeneration lets Wolverine revive himself with 50% health. Not only that, but it's also free to play, meaning a play card action will not be used to play it.

Getting a character downed in game can be frustrating no matter what game it is. But with a card like this, Wolverine can almost instantly get back into the fight at no detrimental cost to the player.

4 Lethal Pounce

Ultimate Wolverine lunges into an attack in Marvel comics

There are many things that people wish would be in the upcoming Wolverine game, one of which being that it's just as violent as Wolverine is. Luckily, Midnight Suns gets to keep Wolverine as violent as he is in the comics.

One of his best - and most violent - cards is Lethal Pounce, which chain up to two enemies for damage. But should a Full Combo be performed, Wolverine's offense is increased by 50%, making him deal even more damage to more enemies as long as he has this effect in place, giving him a better chance at ending the fight quickly.

3 Eviscerate

Eviscerate pretty much combines everything any gamer would want into one powerful card: attacking multiple enemies at once, forcing all enemies to attack one person, and regaining health through attacks.

When playing Eviscerate, Wolverine chains up to 4 enemies at once, gains Taunt, and also Lifesteals from the enemies, which lets him regain as much health as he does damage. Lifesteal is an amazingly effective status effect in any game, including Midnight Suns, as it can let even badly hurt characters regain a massive amount of health while attacking, making this card even more important than before.

2 Berserk

Wolverine roaring in rage in Marvel Comics

An enraged Wolverine is not something that anyone wants to have to face down. Unfortunately for the enemy units in Midnight Suns, an angry Wolverine is exactly who they might have to face.

Despite its name, the Berserk card doesn't cause Wolverine to go on a rampage. Instead, it lets the player draw 2 more Wolverine cards and then gives all his cards the Lifesteal effect until the end of the turn. At first glance, this may not seem like much. But having Lifesteal applied to every Wolverine card can help him regain an enormous amount of health - especially when paired with some of his more high damaging cards.

1 Power Slash

Wolverine slashing the Hulk in the Marvel comics

By far, one of Wolverine's most impressive and deadliest cards is Power Slash. And, given the damage and abilities that it deals out, it's easy to see why.

Playing Power Slash lets players not only deal an insane amount of damage to another enemy, but it also knocks this enemy back, potentially doing more damage if it hits anything on the way back. Finally, it applies Vulnerable, letting Wolverine do 50% more damage to the target and ultimately taking him down even faster. While it can't chain enemies or Lifesteal, Power Slash is definitely the card that players will want to try to get the most.
