Marvel's Midnight Suns, the latest turn-based strategy game to feature a host of iconic Marvel heroes, has a colorful cast that could easily be compared to another Marvel strategy game, Marvel Strike Force. Both Marvel's Midnight Suns and Marvel Strike Force task players with assembling a collection of Marvel's finest heroes, anti-heroes, and villains, to conquer challenging enemies in tense turn-based combat. With the release of Marvel's Midnight Suns, one can't help but compare its character roster to that of Marvel Strike Force, and both rosters certainly have their own merits.

Though the games share turn-based origins, Marvel's Midnight Suns and Marvel Strike Force are two very different titles, and this is clearly reflected in each game's character roster. Marvel Strike Force is a free-to-play action RPG available on mobile devices, while Marvel's Midnight Suns is a full-price tactical card-based game on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Neither Marvel video game is connected, like the MCU, despite both rosters sharing major flagship characters like Iron Man and Captain America. Rather, both games utilize their characters in completely different ways, making each group of heroes drastically different.

Marvel Strike Force Has Many More Characters Than Marvel's Midnight Suns

In terms of sheer numbers, Marvel Strike Force has the clear advantage over Marvel's Midnight Suns. Marvel Strike Force touts over 150 collectible heroes from the vast reaches of the Marvel Universe, with many, many left-field characters to unlock. While familiar faces like Spider-Man, Hulk, and Thor are inevitably present, Marvel Strike Force also features rarely-found members of the X-Men, Secret Avengers, and Inhumans in its roster, making Marvel's Midnight Suns' 13-character roster look minuscule by comparison.

Marvel's Midnight Suns, however, does manage to do much more with its 13 characters than anything found in Marvel Strike Force. While including the less mystical characters like Iron Man and Captain America in Marvel's Midnight Suns' roster doesn't make sense narratively, the characters are truly brought to life through the game's enthralling narrative and in-game social aspects between characters. Marvel Strike Force does feature a campaign, but its characters and narrative fall flat compared to the complex world-building of Marvel's Midnight Suns.

Marvel Strike Force may have the numerical advantage over Marvel's Midnight Suns' character roster, but the characters in the latter are much more engaging and interesting than the former. In Marvel's Midnight Suns, players get a dynamic experience by choosing which characters to ally with, while Marvel Strike Force players meander through a single, scripted dialogue chain in their campaign. Both games feature some of Earth's mightiest heroes, but the heroes in Marvel's Midnight Suns are the ones worth getting to know.
