Marvel's Midnight Suns is set to delve into Marvel's dark and supernatural world, and Dr. Michael Morbius would be the perfect character to introduce into this world. Due to the recent delay of Marvel's Midnight Suns, fans will have to wait a bit longer to get their hands on the game, but that hasn't stopped them from speculating on which Marvel characters might fill up the roster of heroes to play as or villains to fight. With Morbius' upcoming solo film from Sony Pictures thrusting the relatively obscure Marvel anti-hero into the spotlight, now might be the perfect time to take advantage of the character's newfound popularity and include him in Marvel's Midnight Suns' storyline, either as a villain or as a playable hero.

While there are some members of Marvel's Midnight Suns' roster that don't make sense, Morbius would fit in perfectly with the game's supernatural theme. Dr. Michael Morbius first debuted in The Amazing Spider-Man #101 (after the Comics Code Authority lifted a ban on using vampires). Morbius was portrayed early on as a sympathetic villain for Spider-Man. Born with a rare and incurable blood disease, Morbius spent his life looking for a cure, eventually giving himself a cure he invented using the DNA of vampire bats. Unfortunately, this supposed cure gave him pseudo-vampire abilities and cravings, pushing him to feed on blood and hide from the sunlight. While Morbius is not technically a supernatural vampire, his new abilities closely mimic those of a traditional vampire, earning him the moniker, The Living Vampire.

Having been portrayed as both a hero and a villain, Morbius would be an excellent fit to join Marvel's Midnight Suns' roster of supernatural heroes, or as a villain that the player has to battle. Not only does Morbius fit in with the darker, supernatural tones of the story, he was also a member of the Midnight Sons in Marvel comics. While Marvel's Midnight Suns is not a direct adaptation of the Midnight Sons comics, the game does take a lot of inspiration the popular comic series, and several members of the Midnight Sons team from the comics have already confirmed to be playable as part of Marvel's Midnight Suns' roster. These characters include the vampire hunter, Blade, and the Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange.

How Morbius Could Fit On Marvel's Midnight Sons' Roster

In addition to his upcoming film, Morbius has made a few appearances in Marvel video games. He was added to Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 with the Marvel Knights DLC, as well as recently joining Marvel Strike Force's ever-expanding roster of Marvel heroes and villains to play as. However, Marvel's Midnight Suns may be an even better fit for the character, considering his more horror-themed roots. In addition to appearing as an antagonist for Spider-Man and Blade in Marvel Comics, Morbius also starred in a 1973 black-and-white horror themed comic series called Vampire Tales. Morbius' struggle between wanting to be a heroic doctor that cures people and saves their lives and the violent cravings he feels makes for an interesting and conflicted character, one that would be fun to interact with in The Abbey, where the player can speak with their fellow teammates.

If Morbius doesn't make the cut on the playable roster, he could make for a great addition to Marvel's Midnight Suns' villain lineup. The character's vampiric abilities could make for an interesting and challenging boss fight, and his long history as an antagonist of Blade (who is playable) could make for a fun rivalry in-game. Whether as a hero or villain, Morbius should appear in Marvel's Midnight Suns, bringing his vampiric abilities and internal struggles to an already packed supernatural adventure.
