Marvel's Midnight Suns brings some of the lesser-known Marvel heroes to players, but the end credits may hint towards a more well-known force coming in DLC. Firaxis Games are known to add DLC and have promised post-launch updates with new characters and missions. The question with Midnight Suns is whether it will get a significant DLC update akin to what XCOM 2 got with War of the Chosen. In contrast to War of the Chosen, which was more of an update of the original game with new enemies and ally factions, a DLC for Midnight Suns would likely be a whole new story.

[Warning: The following article contains spoilers for Marvel's Midnight Suns.]Marvel's Midnight Suns developer Firaxis Games announced DLC for its Marvel title prior to its release, revealing that several new characters will be added. Midnight Suns' DLC will include Venom, Storm, Deadpool, and even 2021's breakout Marvel star, Morbius. Venom appears in the base game as one of villain Lilith's corrupted, but the character's anti-hero persona in the comics makes his inclusion as a playable character in DLC somewhat expected. These characters will also come with unique missions, with Firaxis yet to share specifics on gameplay at the time of writing.

Marvel's Midnight Suns End Credits Tease Doctor Doom

Midnight Suns Dr Doom

The ending of Marvel's Midnight Suns revealed that Lilith was only using the Darkhold to summon Chthon so she could destroy him and save The Hunter from becoming his vessel. However, in sealing away Chthon again, The Hunter and Lilith fade away as his power is what allowed them to keep living. The rest of Marvel's Midnight Suns character roster realizes this and starts looking for any way to bring their friend back, but while they are trying, it is revealed Doctor Doom has found the Darkhold. This would point all signs to Doctor Doom being the next main villain of the game's DLC story.

What Doctor Doom's Appearance Means For Marvel's Midnight Suns

Marvel's Midnight Suns Spider-Man and Team

Doctor Doom's appearance in Marvel's Midnight Suns opens the door for numerous heroes and villains to show up in the game. It would be expected that some, if not all, of The Fantastic Four show up to combat their chief rival, but it's unlikely Doom will be alone. Doctor Doom is known for his intelligence, along with his strength, making it likely he would recruit his own team of new villains for Marvel's Midnight Suns. That would increase the odds of those respective villains' hero counterparts joining the playable roster, similar to how Spider-Man joined due to Venom and Wolverine for Sabertooth.

Story-wise, Doctor Doom will likely use the powers of the Darkhold for himself rather than trying to summon Chthon. Doctor Doom could go down a road similar to what Iron Man was doing, blending technology and magic in hopes of a more significant outcome. Option two is less likely, but Firaxis Games could go down the route of Doom Supreme. Marvel's Midnight Suns Doctor Doom would be looking to dethrone Doctor Strange and become the new Sorcerer Supreme with his dark powers.

The number of ways Firaxis Games could take Doctor Doom is appealing, and if the base game is any indication, it will likely be just as rewarding. Midnight Suns has four characters in Deadpool, Venom, Morbius, and Storm set to be added, with the likelihood of any significant DLC coming after. Whenever it does come out, Doctor Doom's presence in Marvel's Midnight Suns could make an already great game even better.
