Fans of Marvel's Avengers game were recently teased with the next playable hero, Jane Foster's Mighty Thor, who promises to set herself apart from Odinson's Thor with her own unique abilities. The game allows fans to play as many of Marvel's superpowered heroes with friends as they fight hordes of enemies across popular Marvel locations. While the game met its share of issues after launch, new updates and DLC have dramatically improved on many of its previous problems.
DLC packs like War for Wakanda and Future Imperfect have added more characters and content for the Avengers game. Players have been able to unlock new loot and costumes pulled directly from the decades of material contained in the many stories found in Marvel comics. While Marvel's Avengers has managed to stay closer to the storylines found in the comics, character skins and references to Marvel's Cinematic Universe movies are included in the game. And the game's developer has announced that a new playable hero is in the works. The new hero was featured at the end of the MCU's Thor: Love and Thunder teaser trailer, Jane Foster's Thor herself.
Jane Foster's Mighty rendition of Thor will arrive in the Marvel's Avengers 2.5 update sometime this summer, and developers promise she is not a reskin of Thor and his abilities. Though she will wield the hammer Mjolnir, the developers promise that Jane Foster will have her own, unique mechanics and skills. In an update provided by the Avengers developer blog, the team provided information on recent adjustments to improve Marvel's Avengers reward system, gameplay tweaks, and the tease of the new playable Super Heroine. Developers promise to stick close to characters' comic book identities rather than taking inspiration from Marvel's popular films. However, Jane's Thor isn't the only new addition to line up with Marvel's other releases.
Since the Avengers game launched in September 2020, developers have released several free DLC packs adding new playable heroes like Black Panther, Kate Bishop, and the PlayStation exclusive Spider-Man. The expansions also provide new Operations that contain new levels and storylines from some of Marvel's best story arcs found in the comics. It is currently unknown if new story content is planned to release with Jane's Thor. Still, new rewards and content seem inevitable, with the game's third anniversary coming soon.
Fans who have stuck with Marvel's Avengers or given it another try lately should be surprised by how much content has been added since the game's launch. Players have been able to fight an evil Hulk in the future and battle for the fate of Wakanda in the game's exciting DLC missions. Jane's version of Thor should be very popular this summer with the new Thor movie coming out. However, many fans are still hoping for other favorite heroes like Doctor Strange, Daredevil, or Scarlet Witch to join Marvel's Avengers playable roster.
