The latest sale for Marvel’s Avengers has been extended, with Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics confirming that some of the price mark downs will stay in place permanently. Marvel’s Avengers was one of the biggest games released this year, with early sales of the title dominating the charts across the globe. However, this trend has diminished in recent months, with the news that sports games such as Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 and NBA 2k21 managed to knock the Avengers off their seat at the top in September.

In addition to this news, there have also been several reports that players are already getting bored of Marvel's Avengers; something that developers have been keen to rectify. In October, Scot Amos from Crystal Dynamics assured fans that more content would be made available for the superhero game, including new missions and a bonus level after the main campaign. While Marvel’s Avengers can be played offline, and without any DLC, the extra purchases made through microtransactions offer fans the chance to extend their gameplay experience. These extras have not always been received in a positive light, though. There was an outcry among fans recently, as it was revealed that Spider-Man would only be available as a playable character on the PlayStation version of Marvel’s Avengers. New leaks do show that Black Panther and War Machine may soon be coming to the game as well, hopefully arriving on more than just one gaming platform.

Perhaps in an additional bid to get its fanbase back, the developer behind Marvel’s Avengers has declared that a recent sale on cosmetic purchases such as Takedowns and Emotes will be made permanent. Following an announcement on the Marvel 's Avengers Twitter feed that stated simply that the sale would be extended beyond its original end date, IGN has reported that, upon booting up the game, there is now a notice that reads “Based on your feedback, we are keeping the 50% discounts on Takedowns and Emotes from last week's sale and making them the new regular price of these items.”

Under the new prices, Epic Take Downs will now cost gamers 600 credits, 50 percent off their original cost, and emotes now range from 125 credits to 500 credits. However, whether these price drops will be enough to entice players back to the game is anyone’s guess.

Crystal Dynamics certainly has its work cut out if it wants to keep Marvel's Avengers fresh in people’s minds, especially with the release of next-gen consoles, and the promise of new games including Marvel’s Spiderman: Miles Morales, coming this month. The fact that the developer is listening to players’ feedback for Marvel’s Avengers is a promising sign, though. There may yet be a revival in store for this superhero squad if more substantial changes are on the way.
