The final open beta for Marvel’s Avengers is happening this weekend and Square Enix has announced several updates that are coming to the game for the final round of testing. The open beta will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. While PS4 players won’t need a PlayStation Plus subscription to access all the content available in the beta, those on the Xbox One will need an Xbox Live Gold subscription to play with friends.

Square Enix has been holding beta sessions for Marvel’s Avengers over the past few weekends. It started with the pre-order beta for the PS4, then an open beta for the PS4 alongside the pre-order beta for the Xbox One and PC, and finally a fully open beta this weekend. The beta gives players access to a handful of the game’s characters, initial story missions, and a few side missions from the War Table, the game’s mission map. First impressions of the game through the open beta have been mixed so far, with many pointing out issues with the game’s mission structure.

In a new blog post from Square Enix, the developer not only details how new players will be able to join the open beta, but also lays out updates coming to the beta for each platform. Console updates include camera shake settings, improved vaulting, better matchmaking, loot drop rate adjustments, and a reduction of motion blur. The update on the PC is more extensive, with fixes or improvements to performance issues, crashing, graphical glitches, and more. The game’s PC version is also getting improvements to its support for ultra-wide and super-ultrawide monitors as well as fixes to the game’s Dynamic Screen Resolution feature.

Some of the notable fixes coming to all the platforms include changes that players have been requesting of Square Enix throughout the game's previous beta weekends. Based on the response that Square Enix's tweet announcing the patch notes received, it seems that lots of players who've already tried the beta are pleased with the update. If that translates to previous beta players returning for the game's final beta weekend, it could be good news for Square Enix, indicating a fan base ready for the game to launch.

Hopefully, the final open beta weekend will give Square Enix and developer Crystal Dynamics enough information to conduct more improvements to the game before its official release next month, as there are definitely still quite a few quality of life improvements that the game could use to make the experience more enjoyable. Fortunately, these new updates show that Square Enix is definitely listening to the game’s fans, so it’s likely that players will see more improvements and more content added to Marvel's Avengers down the road, even after the game is released.
