A mischievous voice line in Marvel's Avengers expansion War for Wakanda suggests that Thor's brother Loki maybe be coming to the game as a playable character. The superhero game, developed by Crystal Dynamics, was criticized upon release for its microtransactions and lack of content. Since then the developer has been slowly updating Marvel's Avengers, with Black Panther - War for Wakanda being the newest and biggest expansion yet.

War for Wakanda expands Marvel's Avengers' playable roster by adding King T'Challa, the leader of Wakanda who also serves as the superpowered protector Black Panther. Following up on previous additions Kate Bishop and Hawkeye, Black Panther is a wholly unique character with his own set of attacks, abilities, and upgrades. While even more Avengers are expected to arrive in the future, Crystal Dynamics has been pretty quiet about which heroes fans can expect to see. However, the developer has confirmed that Spider-Man will be added to Marvel's Avengers in 2021. The beloved web-swinging hero will be exclusive to PlayStation versions of the game, which threatens to divide the game's already small player base.

Twitter user Deed-gheth has posted a War for Wakanda voice line which hints at a future addition to Marvel's Avengers' roster. The expansion adds a new playable character to the game, the Wakanda mystic Zawavari, who greets players based on which Avengers they are currently using. However, upon approaching Zawavari as Thor, the shaman erroneously used a voice line suggesting that he was encountering Loki. The voice line, "Already back Loki? Always a pleasure," suggests that there are plans to add the Marvel anti-hero as a playable character. Other bugged voice lines also suggest that the Scarlet Witch is coming to Marvel's Avengers alongside Doctor Strange.

Alongside big content drops like War for Wakanda, Crystal Dynamics has also made smaller additions to Marvel's Avengers. The developer recently added Captain America's suit from The Avengers to the game, allowing players to take on the likeness of Chris Evans' live-action adaptation. The Marvel Cinematic Universe suit arrives on the heels of a series of costumes inspired by Avengers: Endgame, suggesting that Crystal Dynamics is now focusing on the popular film franchise as inspiration for future cosmetics.

Marvel's Avengers already features an impressive roster of Marvel heroes, with each playable character being quite distinct compared to its allies. While the title has received criticism for its microtransactions and endgame content, the combat itself is often well-regarded by players. With the potential to see unique new heroes such as Loki, gamers may want to keep their eyes peeled for future Marvel's Avengers announcements.
