After a period of silence following a recent controversy, Marvel's Avengers is rolling out concept art for an upcoming raid. The superhero brawler, developed by Crystal Dynamics, released to lukewarm reception and was criticized for its lack of endgame content and abundance of microtransactions. Marvel's Avengers recently found itself in controversy due to the addition of paid consumables, which many players say breaks promises previously made by Crystal Dynamics.

Since launch, Marvel's Avengers received completely free additional content, which comes in the form of new heroes, missions, boss fights and events. Operations starring Kate Bishop, Hawkeye and Black Panther were released for free, with each of these storylines pitting players against new villains in unique new locations. Upon release, Crystal Dynamics insisted paid items in the game's Marketplace would be purely cosmetic, but consumable boosters were added to the shop just recently. Despite the game's rough first year, new content will continue releasing throughout 2021, including a new Raid and Spider-Man as a playable Marvels' Avengers character, though the wall-crawling hero will only be available on PlayStation consoles.

After disappearing from social media following the consumable controversy, Marvel's Avengers recently started teasing its upcoming Klaw raid on Twitter. The new piece of content, titled "Klaw Raid: Discordant Sound," will release as a free update before the end of 2021. The raid will apparently be the game's most challenging piece of content yet, with powerful enemies and tricky puzzles testing each player's skill. The mission will then conclude with a boss battle against Klaw, the monstrous final boss of the War for Wakanda expansion. The new pieces of concept art give players an idea of what they can expect out of the next Marvel's Avengers expansion. The first image shows the underground vibranium mines featured in the War for Wakanda DLC, while the second shows a strange obelisk that will apparently be part of a puzzle.

While Marvel's Avengers has received a generous amount of free content, Crystal Dynamics recently oriented its focus on adding paid cosmetics for the Marketplace. While the superhero action title launched with many cosmetic outfits for Earth's Mightiest Heroes, it did not include any suits based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That soon changed, and since then many alternate skins based on the heroes' live-action versions have been released. Most recently Captain America's Avengers: Infinity War suit was added, letting players don Chris Evans' most disheveled depiction of the iconic hero.

Despite some vehement backlash from fans, Crystal Dynamics seems dedicated to delivering more Marvel's Avengers content before the end of the year. One of the game's most common criticisms is its lack of meaningful endgame content, so a truly challenging boss raid may be a welcome addition to the title. While it appears the developer is simply ignoring recent criticisms, time will tell whether Klaw Raid: Discordant Sound can appease the already discontented Marvel's Avengers player base.
