Since release Marvel's Avengers has received criticism due to its microtransaction system and lack of engaging multiplayer content. Meanwhile, the game's Marvel Cinematic Universe outfits have been praise for their authenticity, though some fans are frustrated that each hero's in-game model is left unchanged rather than retextured to resemble their live-action counterparts. The release of big-screen skins began last year with a set of Avengers: Endgame outfits, and now many other films like Avengers: Infinity War and Captain America: Civil War are represented too. Crystal Dynamics has failed to add any actual gameplay content since November 2021, but skins like nanotech Iron Man from Infinity War continue to release on a weekly basis.
As revealed by Marvel's Avengers on Twitter, the next Marvel Cinematic Universe suit coming to the Marketplace is Thor's original live-action armor and helmet. The God of Thunder wore this magical regalia to battle the Frost Giants at the beginning of the film, and his brother Loki at the end, though the helmet was used mainly as a ceremonial piece. Like other MCU skins, the Marvel's Avengers outfit is extremely accurate to its on-screen counterpart and allows players to recreate cinematic moments within the multiplayer superhero game. The Thor Outfit will be available in the Marvel's Avengers Marketplace starting April 14.
While Marvel Cinematic Universe skins are extremely popular, Marvel's Avengers also includes comic-accurate skins for dedicated fans to appreciate. The Time Runs Out skin for Hawkeye decks the master marksman out in black and grey tactical gear, with the design pulled straight from the pages of Marvel Comics. The Time Runs Out storyline sees Earth's Mightiest Heroes team up to prevent a universal threat, and Hawkeye dons a pair of stylish sunglasses for the occasion. The Time Runs Out skin can currently be earned through Marvel's Avengers Shipments, which are purchased with in-game currency rather than real money.
Despite the game's rocky development, Marvel's Avengers has been consistently praised for its Marvel Cinematic Universe cosmetics. Thor's design from his very first film, which includes the winged helmet rarely worn on screen, perfectly captures the Asgardian prince's status and power. For fans of Chris Hemsworth and his portrayal of the God of Thunder, the Thor outfit will be available in the Marvel's Avengers Marketplace starting April 14.
