Marvel's Avengers has a hidden easter egg involving Captain America and Thor's Mjolnir that references the events of the MCU Avengers films. In Marvel's many universes, Mjolnir is the hammer of Thor, and it can bestow the powers of the god of thunder to those who can lift it.

The only problem with using Mjolnir as a weapon is that it can only be lifted by those it deems worthy, with Donald Blake being the first in the comics. A number of different characters have lifted Mjolnir since it was first introduced, including Superman and Wonder Woman, but the majority of the people in the Marvel Universe cannot pick the hammer up from the ground. One non-Asgardian who can lift Mjolnir in the MCU is Captain America, who was able to make it move in Avengers: Age of Ultron before being able to fully wield it against Thanos in Avengers: Endgame

The moment where Captain America lifts Mjolnir is referenced in an easter egg in Marvel's Avengers. Once the player has unlocked all of the characters in Marvel's Avengersthey can visit each other's quarters and see how they spend their free time. It's possible to visit Thor's quarters and find Mjolnir laying on the floor. If the player is controlling Captain America at the time, then he can cause Mjolnir to move if he tries to lift it, while none of the other characters can make it budge. A video of all of the characters attempting this feat can be seen on the ynSection YouTube channel.

It's unlikely that this scene is referring to any major upcoming storyline in Marvel's Avengers, which exists in its own continuity outside of the MCU and the comics. For one thing, Thor has yet to build Stormbreaker in this continuity, so Mjolnir is currently his only weapon. Thor is one of the main playable characters in Marvel's Avengers and it's unlikely that the developers will kill him off anytime soon, so this means that Mjolnir will be accounted for as his weapon for the time being.

It's possible that there could be a one-off scene in a future update where Captain America briefly uses Mjolnir while Thor is incapacitated. We know that Marvel's Avengers is receiving more content in the future, including new characters (like Hawkeye, Kate Bishop, and Spider-Man), which will each have their own accompanying storylines. Captain America could wield Mjolnir briefly in a future story update, but he likely won't become the weapon's primary wielder until a sequel is made.
